What To Expect
Swakopmund Fat Bike Tours
On our Scenic Desert Tour you will experience the oldest desert in the world on a fat bike. On your arrival at our office you will be kitted with a fat bike to your size and helmet. After a short briefing we head off on our bikes from the center of town towards the Swakop riverbed, passing through our historic town. Once we reach the edge of town, we head down into the dry riverbed where the desert experience starts. Not long and we start climbing our first dune. From here we spend about an hour in the dunes where you will experience the thrill of riding along the famous Namib dunes including some optional adrenaline pumping downhill sections for the adventure types. The guide will also share some interesting facts about the desert and the vast life in the seemingly lifeless environment. It is truly a living desert. The tour ends with a ride along the dry riverbed towards the coast and with the tide allows, some riding along the beach back to the office. A once in lifetime experience.

5.00Absolutely fantastic fun and a superb guide with lots of valuable information. We had so much fun! Mix of ages from 55 to 69 and everyone managed to get to the top of the dunes. Amazing photo opportunities. Loved every minute. Thanks Costa!

5.00Our whole experience was first rate. Booking in advance with Mark was easy and he communicated with us very well. The price was completely reasonable. When we got to the shop and saw the good bikes that they had for us, we knew that we'd be in for a good day. The bikes were of much higher quality than most that we have rented elsewhere in the past. The guides, Costa and Rafael, were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They made the tour so much more than a bike ride. We learned about geology, native plants and Namibian culture. Issues were quickly resolved. One of the bikes had a valve stem problem early on and the tire needed to be pumped up again. Another staff member came out within minutes with a good floor pump, and we were back on our way. This Adventure Tour is well described. It says that it is for the avid cyclist and that is right. If you are new to cycling or your fitness is not great, this tour would be a bit too hard, even on an ebike. When the uphills got too steep to ride, the guides helped us get the bikes to the top but climbing up those dunes was tough even without having to push our own bikes up. If in doubt, it would probably be best to take the shorter tour that they offer. Thank you Mark, Costa and Rafael. We've been liking Namibia so far and today we loved it.

5.00I-N-G-O is an incredible tour guide! Very informed about the desert and the life it has - he located a lizard for us to see, that was so cool! He showed us thinks about the sand I didn’t know were possible and overall, his energy and vibe was immaculate! We are very greatful that he was so accommodating to us needing to take a million pictures. 10/10 would recommend. The experience itself was magical as well, if you’ve got the energy go for manual but if you’re here to enjoy the ride without too much hassle, the e-bikes are so worth it! Enjoy out there! 5.00Did the scenic tour with Hanjo - great route to see the desert and Hanjo was very informative and we learnt a lot about the desert as well as Swakopmund (we stumbled across a Chameleon!). One of the best ways to see the area for sure! Highly recommend

5.00We went fat biking as part of our cycle trip with Exodus. This was the highlight of our trip so far and far exceeded my expectations. We cycled across the granite plains and right up into and over the sand dunes. It was exhilarating and fantastic fun! Our guide was really professional and extremely knowledgeable of the natural history of the area. The bikes were of a very high spec and were extremely well maintained. All in all it was a fabulous 4 hour trip.

4.00A once in a lifetime experience... cycling over the dunes and on the beach, soaking up the sun of the dunes and the chill from the Atlantic. The guide was friendly and helpful. The fat bikes were suitable to make the trip pleasant.

5.00As an endurance athlete who dabbled in a bit of everything, riding the dunes in Namibia had been on my list for quite while. The tour was well organized, educational, thrilling, and pushed me to my limits (although could be scaled back to accommodate all skill and fitness levels). Loved it!
