Located north-east of the heart of Tokyo, Ueno has been a perfect destination for those who desire good food and cultural exploration. What makes Ueno distinctively unique is its dynamic blend of contrasts; chaos and serenity, urban development and natural beauty, modernity and tradition, common touch and nobility.
Ueno Park is located on what was once the grounds of the largest, most prestigious temple in Edo (old Tokyo), from the the 17th to 19th century. It is one of the most beloved cherry-blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. Local Japanese and tourists flock together for shopping and eating at its nearby district Ameyoko, where you will find a countless number of unique bars and dining places.
While tasting the foods and enjoying the atmosphere of the area, you will find yourself becoming welcomed as a local in this friendly community.

Great way to experience food culture in Japan. Was a bit worried it would be awkward, as I was the only person who showed up for my tour. But my tour guide, Natsumi, was a pro. Super friendly and talkative. Definitely plan on booking a tour in the future.

Harumi was an excellent guide for our food tour. She showed us multiple great places to eat and shared lots of information about the food, people and culture of Japan. She even took into account our personal food preferences as much as possible when ordering different dishes for us. We really enjoyed our day and would highly recommend this food tour.

Thanks Natsumi for an engaging and informative food tour. Lots to eat - no dinner required later that day ! Everything we ate was delicious and as always it was fun to meet other travellers.

We had a fantastic tour with Yumi. We sampled many different flavors, wet to unique stores we never would have found. It was a great way to start our trip in japan.

A perfect sampling of the Ueno neighborhood. The sushi was the best I’ve had and the Goya was excellent. Mostly, it helped to fine quality restaurants in unexpected places. Miki was a great host. The tour was intimate and took our preferences into account

Good value, and great variety to kick off a stay in Tokyo. The spots picked flow nicely with a good pace for the tour. Our guide was great and also gave some recommendations and advice for the rest of the stay in Japan.

Natsumi was GREAT! She was very friendly and full of knowledge about the food, the history of the food in Tokyo and specifically Ueno, and overall history. We learned so much about the Edo period, rules, customs, and manners. Let me tell you, I had definitely been offending people with my chopstick etiquette prior to this! We enjoyed delicious sake and sushi, hit up the izakayas including the most delicious gyozas of my life, yakatori, a Secret Spot (YUUUM), followed by manju on the street and a matcha/vanilla ice cream and a parting gift of a rice cakes variety pack. Natsumi genuinely just loved to teach us and watch us react to and enjoy her country's food. She was amazing and I highly recommend. It was a great way to learn more about Tokyo and the surrounding area, get food recommendations, and sample some things I may not have otherwise tried. If you book this tour and get Natsumi as your guide, please ask her if she got a sourdough starter as a pet!

Great tour! Had a wide variety of delicious foods (yakitori, sushi, gyoza, a surprise, and two desserts). Yumi was a very kind and informative host. We never felt rushed, despite the many stops. She also accommodated the food issues in our group.
