Located north-east of the heart of Tokyo, Ueno has been a perfect destination for those who desire good food and cultural exploration. What makes Ueno distinctively unique is its dynamic blend of contrasts; chaos and serenity, urban development and natural beauty, modernity and tradition, common touch and nobility.
Ueno Park is located on what was once the grounds of the largest, most prestigious temple in Edo (old Tokyo), from the the 17th to 19th century. It is one of the most beloved cherry-blossom viewing spots in Tokyo. Local Japanese and tourists flock together for shopping and eating at its nearby district Ameyoko, where you will find a countless number of unique bars and dining places.
While tasting the foods and enjoying the atmosphere of the area, you will find yourself becoming welcomed as a local in this friendly community.

Fun tour in Ueno with a great guide. We learned about the area and its history and had great food along the way. Stopped at local spots that it would be difficult for English speaking tourists to find and didn’t feel rushed. Highly recommend.

I have done many Secret Food Tours around the world and they are consistently wonderful! Our guide, Yumi, was incredibly knowledgeable and sweet. She was clearly passionate about sharing her love of her city and its food. Secret Food Tours always attract cool people and our group’s vibe was great.

Miki was an amazing tour guide! She answered all of our questions, taught us some key phrases to use at restaurants, and showed us how to enjoy cuisine in Japan the right way. Every bite we ate was incredible. I will never have a better food experience for the rest of my life. If I could give her 10 out of 5 stars, I would. She also told us where to go for the shopping we wanted to do, telling us which shops to go to for anime figurines, school supplies, and vintage clothing. It is awesome having someone who knows the country share a meal (or 5 meal) experience with. Best tour EVER!!!!

Our guide Yumi Kimura was excellent. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and adapted pace and content of her explanations well to the interests of the group. We learned a lot and enjoyed her company as much as the food.
