The desolate beauty of inland Sal is in stark contrast to the white sands of its coast. On this off-road safari, you'll explore Murdeira Bay, the Buracona lagoon, the ocean-like sands of Terra Boa and Pedra de Lume. Beyond the most popular sights, you'll also get a glimpse of local life in Palmeira and Espargos. Rodrigo, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘I've lived on Sal all my life, and I'm still fascinated by my island's colourful street art. It's a vivid reflection of our culture and our daily lives.'

Murdeira
Starting with a pit stop at Murdeira Bay, you'll trundle off in a closed 4x4 – we're the only ones using covered off-roaders – to the fishing village of Palmeira on the west coast.
Palmeira
ts palm tree-lined streets are dotted with mural-painted cafés and tiny shops. Rodrigo says, ‘Palmeira's kaleidoscopic – and cluttered – souvenir shops are an attraction in themselves.'

Me and my husband went on this trip to get to see a bit of the island. Our guide, we think his name was Stefan was brilliant, he was friendly, engaging and very knowledgeable answering all questions. It felt like he went above and beyond to make the trip enjoyable. We would definitely recommend the trip.

Excellent trip around £43 each for 4 hour trip. Eddie and driver from Tui excellent guides. We got to see the blue waters, a mirage, how life is within Cape Verde for the locals. Tasted their local rum delicious and to top it off floated in the amazing salt lake. Body feels amazing. We were also with a good set of other guests in the off road vehicle which was nice. Take your costume even if you can’t swim it doesn’t matter you will float and Eddie is there to help you in and out of the lake. A value for money experience

This was a private tour, and Heber and George (who was the driver) looked after us. Heber was fantastic! Knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions we had about the Sal. The tour was really interesting and informative and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Thank you Heber

Went with Tui. The trip was very rushed as soon as we arrived some where we were given 15 or 30 mins and we were off again. At Murderia we did not even get 5 mins to look around.. the sites were stunning just needed a little time. We can only guess it was because it as a Sunday. We were back at hotel just after 12 and were last drop off.

The TUI tour guide really made this trip worthwhile. He was so informative, fun and the trip was well paced. We were pleased with the enclosed 4x4, given the amount of dust! Some great photo opportunities and each stop-off point was interesting. It was good to hear perspectives around local life, culture, history and challenges.

This is a nice tour perhaps just the right length with an excellent guide (Edmillson - hope I spelt that right-apologies if not). We saw all the sights you could wish to see in a tour taking just over 4 hours. Wrong time of the year for the blue eye but still a great spot. Our guide is a local of the island so provided a passionate description of his country & its past as well as all we saw. Salt water bathing is a little chaotic but fun, lots of fun, very glad we did the tour, well worth it.

We had a wonderful time on this trip in spite of the weather! Our driver was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and our guide, Edmillxon, shared his love and knowledge of the island with us. Would recommend this trip to anyone.
