What To Expect
Muckross House, Gardens & Traditional Farms
Killarney National Park's main attraction, this beautiful house was built in 1839-1843. Queen Victoria stayed here. The gardens are world renowned for their spleandour and grandeur.
Muckross Abbey
Built by the local Chieftan, McCarthy Mor, for the Franciscians in 1448 it remained for centuries an important center of religious culture untill sacked by Cromwell in 1652. A visit there today is an enchanting and spellbinding experience.

4.00Very peacfull route past wildlife and waterfalls. Bikes very good no problems. Map a bit confusing we got lost a few times. Workers very chatty and entertained children. Horse and carrige slightly annoying as they get in your way but overall very good would do it again (if my legs can very nackering.)

5.00Great way to get around the sites. We easily moved our reservation from one day to the next due to persistent rain. The bikes were easy to use and came with everything you need - helmets, basket, and locks.

5.00Muckross house and gardens are fantastic with wonderfully manicured gardens and exotic shrubs plus open access to walk around…all free except the house and museum BUT don’t miss the Traditional village and farm. I’ve seen many villages depicting life in the 1940’s/50 but this is the best by far. Live animals, pigs, horses hens chickens etc kitchen gardens (for the housewife) ploughing with horses and potato growing. The forge and village houses are l traditionally built and. furnished with traditional soda bread freshly baked on the open fire and freely offered to you to sample. Excellent work reflecting times gone by. A living social document. give yourself a couple of hours at least for the house, gardens and farm. It’s the best of its kind in Ireland. I hope you’ll like it!

5.00I popped into the Killarney Bike Rental facility after midday, and was promptly greeted by a gentleman who inquired after my plans. He took the time to explain the best option for me, considering what I wanted to see and the time I would have available to accomplish it. Excellent quality bikes and helmets, and I chose an e-bike to help with the longer ride. Patient and knowledgeable staff, highly recommend.
