• Great Overview of Orkney

  This was a very good tour to get an overview of the Neolithic and Bronze Age sites, the Italian Chapel, and St. Magnus Cathedral. We were lucky that the small tours were combined because of having to split up a family (not the tour operators fault) and we had two great tour guides, Rachael and Michael, feeding off each other at each site. Each had a unique perspective with Rachael having grown up in the area and Michael being a transplanted educator. Our driver Gus was also fantastic and added comments as we drove along. We maximized the time we had in port with this tour and would highly recommend.

  Great day with Rachael and Mike seeing the sights of Orkneys. We covered a lot of ground . Very knowledgeable guides.

  The entire excursion was great. Our guides were excellent and knowledgeable. So far, it’s one of the bet excursions. Better than the ship ones.

• Great sites, not so great guide.

  We docked early and were off by 10:15 along with everyone else. Our group of 5 then waited 20 30 minutes for the driver to arrive so clearly, the communication between the guide and the driver was not good. Usually the guides know when the boat is docking that day annd get there on time. Normal n, our guide, was there but the driver, a taxi driver, did not arrive until 10:45. (We were scheduled for 10:30.) Everyone else had been picked up by the time we got in to the car. Our guide was almost impossible to hear and I have excellent hearing. There were only 5 of us in the car so it should not have been a problem. We had him move to the middle hoping that would help but it didn’t. Also, his accent was so strong that it even when you could hear him, you couldn’t understand what he was saying. Did I mention that he had a horrible cold? He had a horrible hacking cough and we were all so afraid we’d get sick. (I will let you know in a couple of days.) The poor man never should have been around people that day! He also did not have the knowledge of the places we visited. I mean, he had basic knowledge that you’d get from Google but other guides I heard around us were going in to detail that I truly wish Norman (our guide) had had. At the end we had an hour to explore on our own but the guide had run so fast from the church that we had no idea where a good pub or cafe might be. (But we found one!)

  Chris was informative and friendly. We saw an incredible amount of sites in six hours. Plus we visited the Broch of Gurness which you don’t get to see on a bus tour. We never felt rushed. We highly remind this tour.
