Juma Mosque
Shamakhi city, the capital of the ancient state of Shirvan, considered to be one of the most culturally rich regions of our country. It is rightfully declared to be the center of Azerbaijan’s poetry and viticulture; reputation precedes it and therefore the kind words about this city’s beauty spreads all around the world. There you’ll have the chance to visit the Juma Mosque, its grandiose frame catching anyone’s eye. You’ll be informed about the history of Islam in Azerbaijan, which adds symbolism to the mix, considering that Juma Mosque is the oldest Muslim Temple in all Caucasus.
The rich greenery and the delicious meal that awaits in the cozy restaurant in the middle of Ismailli forest. This adds another layer on the journey. After this magnificent experience of tasting traditional food, we are embarking on another part of our journey.
The next place we are visiting is no less picturesque that everything we have seen before. On our way back to the capital, we stumble upon the large lake hidden away from prying eyes, creating an obscene experience for everyone who steps foot on that ground. It lets its visitors feel the deep connection to the nature of the country itself and resonates with one’s soul. The movie-like experience of walking along the shore, deep in your thoughts, creates a calm and mesmerizing aura around the place.
At this point we finally reach the magnificent city of Gabala, the capital of the Gabala district. Its existence has been woven into the history of Azerbaijan since the ancient times, traced back to Caucasian Albania when it played the role of the capital, now turned into the grand ski resort with one of the most famous hotels of the region “Tufandag” located there. The views of these places can be looked at from the high of cable car cables, that are stretched over the territory. The highest point of the region is situated there, the Sleeping Beauty Mountain standing tall over two thousand meters above the worlds ocean level.
Sheki
Upon reaching Sheki, visitors settle into one of the city's renowned hotels. The entire evening is at their disposal to be spent as they wish. Our company's companions conscientiously allocate this evening as free time for guests, doing so with confidence, given that Azerbaijan is recognized as one of the safest countries globally. Additionally, the people of Sheki are renowned for their warm hospitality.
Palace of Shaki Khans
The upcoming destination on the tour is the 18th-century Palace of Sheki Khans. The palace's windows showcase the shebeke architectural style, featuring mesmerizing multi-colored glass intricately put together in elaborate patterns, all assembled without the use of glue or nails, providing a truly impressive sight.
Church of Kish
In the morning you’ll be getting the bus pick-up from the hotel and drives around, showing our tourists one of the oldest villages in Azerbaijan, Kish village. A well-preserved ancient Albanian temple, considered one of the earliest Christian churches in Azerbaijan, stands in excellent condition within this traditional Caucasian village.
Azerbaijan was always situated on the cross-roads, therefore back in the days there wasn’t a day when the country wasn’t full of merchants who needed a place to stay and rest. So the next thing we will visit is the Sheki Caravansarai, where you can feel as if you’re transported to the past and feel yourself get swiped away by the beauty of this magnificent place.
Sheki
Also to make the experience more deep and interesting, you’ll be able to visit numerous old shops, where you can buy souvenirs, silk, jewelry and so on. It is also a great moment to try traditional Sheki sweets, that are famous all over Azerbaijan for their taste and elegance. The number of Sheki halva masters who has been trying to perfect these sweets for generations.
After this we are going to get lunch, at the local restaurant where you will try out a traditional Sheki meal - thick Piti soup, prepared and served in special clay pots, as well as choban-salad and soft drinks.
Concluding the tour, you will ascend to Sheki Park dedicated to World War II, where you can not only appreciate the splendid memorial commemorating the triumph over fascism but also take in a panoramic view of the entire historic city of Sheki.
Baku
It all ends where it started: the beautiful Baku City, so different but at the same time so inherently alike to the rest of the country. You come back renewed, happy and insanely tired, but this feeling is pleasant and well-welcomed. It’s the tiredness of learning something new, of opening your eyes just a little wider and indication of a time earned and not wasted.

The sights on this tour are all very interesting and worth visiting, however we found our experience was not well managed at all and were disappointed with the organisation and quality of the guides. This overnight tour to Sheki runs as a bolt-on to a day tour to Gebele. On the leg to Gebele, we had 8 travellers as part of an English speaking tour, alongside 8 as part of a Russian speaking tour, all crammed into one small minibus. This made for an uncomfortable trip that was largely dominated by the Russian group; our guide offered relatively little insight into the sights we were visiting, and overall there was a lack of clear coordination or time management. Late in the afternoon, a new guide came to pick two of us up to travel on to Sheki and take us onto our hotel. We stayed in the Sheki Palace Hotel which was of an ok standard but could do with some updates / improvements (especially breakfast). The next day we were due to meet our guide at 11am, however the time was pushed back at the last minute leaving us already checked out of our room and sitting around with our bags to wait. As our guide was now unwell, we also got limited information about the sights we visited in Sheki. After lunch we returned to Gebele to meet another tour group and ride home with them to Baku - overall 5 hours of travel in one stretch, again in a rather full minibus. What was frustrating was that we could have started our morning much earlier in Sheki, meaning we did not arrive back in Baku at such a late hour. The sights in Sheki - and to a lesser extent Gebele - were beautiful and absolutely worth visiting. However we were very disappointed with the organisation of the tour and the quality of the guides. For those interested in a tour to Sheki, I would recommend seeking out a trip that does not run in this 'bolt-on' format as this definitely hampered our experience.

My tour trip on July 06, 2025 to Shamakı Gabala Sheki gave me a very memorable experience. The small town of Sheki has a very beautiful historical heritage. With the explanation from the tour guide Nazperi. Naz is very attentive and also provide very detailed information. The tour program was closed with a visit to the Alban Church then we enjoyed lunch at a small restaurant next to the location. The menu was very unique and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Thank you Naz, you have given us a wonderful time during the trip. I highly recommend this tour with your hospitality

Easily, the highlight of our Azerbaijan visit so far. Made really excellent by the best guide, we have met Miss Nas. She is really alive by and every rigour to part the information about the places to be visiting. Highly recommend this to anyone coming to Azerbaijan. Without this, Tour, your visit would be incomplete Of course, Shamakha is also a must. As I said, you’d be lucky, if you can find Ms. Nas as your guide.

We had a two-day trip with a group tour company on-site Azerbaijan, it was from Baku to Bashi and Kabala on the first day, and the second day from Kabala to Shiki. Honesty was an above-and-beyond experience! Everything was tidy and organized, the bus was comfortable, the schedule was excellent. The most enjoyable part of the flight was our guide who was andana from the first day to the last minute and gave us sweet energy all the time. She was fun, she loved helping, and very respectful. Something we ever had bored is always laughing and explaining every place we visited in a fun and smooth way. I would recommend any one visiting Azerbaijan to try this type of Trips, especially if he has to discover beautiful places away from Baku without having to plan himself. A deal of every Dhs
