There are 52 buildings of various architectural styles displaying predominantly Romanesque Revival, Gothic Revival, Renaissance Revival, Baroque Revival, Neo-Classical or Beaux-Arts styles, and a number in Art Deco style which shows Shanghai has been a metropolis in East Asian since last century. Opposite the Huangpu river you will see amazing city landmarks, such as Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Jinmao Tower and all other high rise buildings which were built in the last three decade.
Yuyuan Old Street
Next, visit 400 years historical ancient Yu Garden (built in 1559 during the Ming Dynasty), and it was once a minister's private house. The art of garden lies in the principle of blurring the line between the artificial and the natural”, and “securing the interest by following the natural law”. This day tour was jam-packed with so many incredible spots! My guide asked which specific places I wanted to visit, then made sure to factor these in throughout the day. I got to see so much of Shanghai and learn about the culture from a local. Having someone who knows how to navigate the city saved me so much time and headache. If you're looking to experience the authentic version of Shanghai, I can't recommend this enough!

Cindy was an excellent guide. She was all you could expect or want: knowledgeable, friendly, punctual, patient, and organized. She also spoke English very well - no communication issues. She also helped us make dinner plans for after our tour, and she made arrangements for our tour in Beijing. Cannot recommend her more highly if you need a guide on Shanghai.

Cindy Wang provided 4 older women touring SE Asia on a cruise, an excellent tour of Shanghai and Zhujiajiao. She appeared right away at the entry to the arrivals area of the cruise terminal, picked us up and whisked us away to the city. We began our tour visiting Shanghai and the next day drove out to Zhujiajiao. Cindy narrated and answered questions as we went along. We began in Yuyuan Garden exploring the old and the new. We did a tea ceremony and learned much about the variety of teas and their preparation. We walked on the Bund, appreciated what felt like competing skyscrapers, visited a silk manufacturing museum/factory, and went the French concession. We learned the stories about things like the "Brides' bridge" and we ate the best soup and dumplings lunch in the city. Zhujiajiao is an old watertown, one of 10 or so in the area preserved from its days as a fishing village. Sometimes described as Venice-like because the streets are canals, it is now a walk-thru historical site full of restaurants, shops, and lots of food stands. We rode a "gondola" along the canals and enjoyed tasting traditional food and another authentic local lunch. Cindy is an excellent guide and manages a tour with a deft hand balancing the new and the old, the energy of the guests with the physical demands of an area, and the desire for an authentic experience with the reality of the city. She is fun, great company, and enthusiastic and I recommend her highly.
