What To Expect
Zhujiajiao Ancient Town
Meet up your friendly private guide at your hotel lobby in the morning or afternoon based on your preferred schedule. Transferred by comfortable vehicle to Zhujiajiao, a water town on the outskirts of Shanghai, and was established about 1,700 years ago. Upon arrival, stroll along the old street and traditional market where you will find many interesting vendors and local specialties. You will also find the best known bridges, built during Ming and Qing Dynasties. Take a relaxing boat ride in the water canals, and your friendly private guide will share with you the history and story of the area. After the tour, your guide will send you back to the hotel in Shanghai city.

5.00I would very much highly recommend the Company, “ Amazing Shanghai Trip” and guide Queena. The Company gave excellent information and their contact after booking and before the trip. Queena, my guide was also fantastic. Great knowledge and we had interesting discussions and her English is perfect. I highly recommend the tour, beautiful small town with a lot of history, and very close to Shanghai. I would give 6 stars if I could to the Company and Queena. Thank you.

5.00This was an amazing tour that I highly recommend, and our tour guide Queena was outstanding! I learned an incredible amount about Zhujiajiao and Shanghai from Queena, and she was very accommodating, thougful, and considerate of our group's interests thoughout the tour. We saw many breathtaking sights, learned a vast amount about the culture and customs, had delicious food, and listened to beautiful local music. This is a must-do tour for travelers to Shanghai!

5.00We were very grateful to Zheng and Hu for their time and Alana for arranging everything the night before. We had a wonderful adventure. Zheng was so knowledgeable and took the time to explain a lot to us about both Shanghai and Zhujiajiao. He was very kind to both our kids, and we appreciate he took time to make sure we had some family photos at different times during the tour. The lunch spot that Alana organised had an amazing atmosphere and the food Zheng ordered was spectacular, fresh local specialities. We felt very lucky to have experienced it and the half day worked perfectly for young kids. We felt very comfortable with Zheng and Hu and it made it easy getting from place to place with young kids.

5.00A trip to a very old village based around canals, bridges and farming. See the original houses that are now mostly shops and restaurants as well as a tranquil old private garden. Our guide Kalvin was both informative and entertaining as he took us back into the past to imagine what life was like all those years ago. Unfortunately it was too windy for us to do the canal ride but we got more time to look around the village and buy some authentic hand made souvenirs of our trip. Lunch in the local restaurant was based around the old time fishing and farming of the village and was delicious, especially the local freshwater fish.

5.00Our visit to the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao Ancient Town was one of the absolute highlights of our stay in Shanghai. Our guide, Snow, met us in the lobby of our hotel before we were driven comfortably to the town, arriving about 50 minutes later. From the moment we crossed the bridge over the river, it felt as though we had stepped into another world. Beautiful tree-lined waterways, traditional stone bridges, and boats gliding along the canals created an atmosphere that was both peaceful and enchanting. The town itself was full of charm. Kezhi Garden was especially memorable — a serene place perfect for relaxation and quiet contemplation. Wandering through the narrow streets and alleys was an adventure in itself, with every turn revealing something new and delightful: artisans creating intricate embroidery, shops serving rice wine from large clay jars, countless tea houses, food stalls, and local restaurants. There was always something interesting to discover. Snow was an excellent host who tailored the experience to our interests, happily allowing us extra time in the places we enjoyed most. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Shanghai — it is truly a must-see experience.

Our tour guide, Snow, met us right in our hotel lobby, and after a comfortable 50-minute drive, we arrived at this picturesque town. Crossing the bridge over the river felt like stepping into another world — tree-lined waterways, graceful boats gliding past, and a peaceful atmosphere that immediately drew us in. The town itself was utterly charming. We loved strolling through Kezhi Garden, a serene spot perfect for contemplation and relaxation. Every narrow street and alley offered a new delight: an embroidery shop displaying exquisite scenes, a vendor pouring fragrant rice wine from large ceramic jars, cozy tea houses, lively food stalls, and inviting restaurants — the list of discoveries seemed endless. Snow was an attentive and flexible guide, allowing us to linger wherever we wished. Her insights and warmth made the experience even more enjoyable. Picturesque village, charming garden to explore, nice boat ride, tasty lunch made with local produce and a chance to shop (tea, fruits but also pearls and silk). Our guide, Kalvin, was amazing - his English was excellent, his knowledge impressive, and he made the whole experience even more enjoyable with his friendly and engaging personality.
