What To Expect

Onomichi

One of the most unique attractions of Onomichi is the Shimanami Kaido. The route, which passes across bridges and islands of the Seto Inland Sea, is the only land connection between Japan's main island of Honshu and Shikoku that is traversable by cyclists and pedestrians. Along the way there are two particular attractions of interest to visitors: the Hirayama Museum and the unique Kosanji Temple.

We had the perfect day for our cycling tour! Our guide took great care of us, stopped along the way at beautiful spots, explained the history, ensured our safety and created a memorable ride! Would have loved to ride down the hills faster! ;-) We were off to a great start, however, I misunderstood that there was no shuttle back to Onomichi!!! Our guide and his driver helped get us back to Onomichi by bus, which took three hours, due to accidents on the two lane road. They were so kind! They were waiting for the bus to arrive at a transfer point and called a cab for us! Above and beyond!
