Discover Shinjuku after dark as we guide you through its vibrant izakaya scene. Over the course of one evening, you’ll visit three distinct venues - from a retro wooden tavern that feels like a step back in time, to a cozy spot known for seasonal comfort dishes, and finally a lively skewer-focused bar tucked inside the famous Omoide Yokocho alley.
Led by a local food guide, you’ll enjoy a mix of flavors, drinks, and atmospheres that reveal the heart of Tokyo’s nightlife. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into izakaya traditions, dining etiquette, and why these pubs are such a beloved part of Japan’s food culture.
Whether a first-time or repeat visitor, this is how to experience Shinjuku like a local.
Dishes you might try:

The guide was super knowledgeable about the izakaya world. I didn’t know it went so deep. I had a chance to learn about history of izakaya and Shinjuku too. Three hours of drinks, ALOT of food, and just fun convo with the guide. It was chill but also well planned. I can tell they had done a lot of research. I wouldn’t know where to start with all the drinking holes in Shinjuku. The guide took us to places only locals knew, with very few tourists. Felt like a curated tour!

A great tour to go on with a couple friends of even solo! Our guide Brian really knew his stuff and took us to three different izakayas where we tried the best food and drink pairings I had during my entire trip to Japan. If you are looking to learn about Japanese culture while actually eating and drinking amazing food chose this shinjuku izakaya tour. Thank you Brian for the great tour!
