Puerto Varas
Nestled on the shores of Lake Llanquihue—Chile’s largest lake. With its distinctive German-influenced architecture, Puerto Varas is known for its quaint streets, cozy cafés, and stunning views. On clear days, you’ll see not only Osorno Volcano, but also Calbuco and the sharply peaked Puntiagudo in the distance, making for truly postcard-worthy scenery. This stop is perfect for a bit of leisure and exploration. You’ll have free time to stroll through the town, visit local artisan shops, and take in the beauty of the lakefront. To make your visit even more special, we include a complimentary snack break featuring a taste of Chile: freshly made beef empanadas paired with a glass of red or white Chilean wine. Since most of our guests are cruise ship passengers, we’ve learned that a sit-down lunch isn’t usually needed—so we offer something light and delicious, perfect for enjoying the view without missing a moment of your adventure.
Saltos del Petrohue
Our first stop is the stunning Petrohué Falls, located within the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Here, the emerald-colored Petrohué River winds its way through ancient volcanic rock, creating a series of cascading waterfalls. Though the falls themselves are not towering in size, their beauty lies in the contrast between the vibrant waters and the dark basalt rock formations shaped by past eruptions. On clear days, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view of Osorno Volcano, rising majestically in the background. It’s just a 15-minute drive from this spot, and its snow-capped peak provides a postcard-perfect backdrop to the scene. This stop is not just about the waterfall—it’s about taking in the raw, natural beauty of southern Chile and imagining the powerful forces that shaped this landscape.

5.00The tour was very well organized. The destinations were well chosen and you had time to explore them on your own. Our tour guide Yavi was very competent and friendly, she spoke very clearly and told a lot about this area. There was a "snack break" with delicious empanadas, 3 different types of cakes, red and white wine, liqueur and water. Everything tasted delicious. The driver drove very carefully. We can highly recommend this tour with Pink Tours.

5.00We had a wonderful tour with Maria as our guide. She took us to all the popular places along the lake as well as the waterfall, and had so much information to share with us! There was never a dull moment! Her English was incredible and very easy to understand. We enjoyed the stop by the lake with the delicious empanadas and wine! What a nice surprise for an all around great day! I highly recommend her tour!

5.00Very fun trip, beautiful scenery and short walk to the falls. Ezy our tour guide was personable and shared a wealth of information of the region. She even quizzed us on the way back of what we learned, handing out Chilean chocolates for participating. Everyone got a treat! The highlight had to be our stop off the side of the road in a small photo op location. A table was setup with wine and water, homemade large Chilean empanadas, kuchen and chocolate cookies for all of us. Many others on our tour were as surprised as we were with the personal touch and thoughtfulness. The scenery was beautiful, company great and really made for a wonderful outing. The tour itself was great. The mountain is pictureque with the falls rushing down. There's a short walk to get there but easy, even for someone with a cane. We also stopped in Frutillar and Puerto Vagas...both are walkable towns with shops and beautiful sceneries. In note, we booked this tour outside the cruise ship. We docked late and our tender was late. I texted Pink Tours and they waited for us....very accommodating and saved us the stress and panic. Thank you Victoria!!

5.00Lots to see on this tour: volcanos, beautiful rushing waterfalls in a park, lake, lovely cities to walk around and shop in. We were given empanadas and wine for a snack and later some kuchen from Fruitillar. Our guide, Erick, 27, was excellent. Very good English, very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot. Highly recommended.

5.00We visited Puerto Montt on a stop from our cruise and booked a local tour instead of the ship excursion — and it was hands down the best decision we made. Our guide took us to Puerto Varas, Frutillar, and Petrohué Falls, and every detail of the day was thoughtful and perfectly organized. She has over 15 years of experience as a tour guide, and it truly shows. Her English is impeccable, her knowledge of the area is excellent, and she knows exactly how to manage cruise schedules so there’s zero stress. What really set this tour apart was the personal touch. She brought homemade German cake (she actually owns a bakery in town!), alfajores de dulce de leche, empanadas, and even red and white wine. It felt warm, local, and authentic — not rushed or generic like many cruise excursions. The itinerary was better than the cruise ship’s, with more stops and flexibility, and the price was less than half of what the cruise line was charging. Smaller groups, more time at each place, and a much more personal experience. She recently opened her own tour business this year, which explains why there aren’t hundreds of reviews yet — but don’t let that stop you. This is a true hidden gem, and I would recommend her 100% to any cruise passenger visiting Puerto Montt who wants a high-quality, stress-free, and memorable day. I would book again without hesitation.
