We were picked up promptly. The fetish market and visit with the voodoo priest was very interesting. We would have appreciated more information from the guide. The voodoo ceremony was great but lengthy.

This was a cruise excursion for us. I was expecting a big group as the operator accepted up to 100 travelers, but we were met just 50 meters from the gangway by a guide with our name on a paper, always what we like to see. There seemed to be 6 of us and we were driven just outside the port to be assigned to our separate cars with drivers and English speaking guides, William in our case. We all went first to the fetish market where a man explained what happens there and the stalls there offered items for sale. Then we drove out of town to a village to see a voodoo ceremony. We waited in the shade for the other cars but none came within 20 minutes? A group of people were singing and dancing a short distance from us but we couldn’t get closer until the chief welcomed us. Then he did and we went closer able to take photos of everything. The singing and dancing continued for the next couple of hours, no tourists ever arriving! The experience was amazing and seemed genuine. Unforgettable!
