Golden Temple of Dambulla
The beautiful Royal Rock Temple complex sits about 160m above the road in the southern part of Dambulla. Five separate caves contain about 150 absolutely stunning Buddha statues and paintings, some of Sri Lanka's most important and evocative religious art. Buddha images were first created here over 2000 years ago, and over the centuries subsequent kings added to and embellished the cave art. Dambulla is thought to have been a place of worship since the 1st century BC, when King Valagamba (also known as Vattagamani Abhaya), driven out of Anuradhapura, took refuge here. When he regained his throne, he had the interior of the caves carved into magnificent rock temples. Further paintings were made by later kings, including King Nissanka Malla, who had the caves’ interiors gilded, earning the place the name Ran Giri (Golden Rock). This process of retouching original and creating new artwork continued into the 20th century. Remarkably, the overall impact is breathtakingly coherent.
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress
Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka.Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination of Sri Lanka. The palace is located in the heart of the island between the towns of Dambulla and Habarana on a massive rocky plateau 370 meters above the sea level. The fortress complex includes remnants of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains. The surrounding territories of Sigiriya were inhibited for several thousand years. The construction of such a monument on a massive rock approximately 200 meters higher from the surrounding landscape required advanced architectural and engineering skills. The gardens of Sigiriya are among the oldest landscaped gardens in the world.

I chose Dima based on a recommendation. It was a great choice! Dima was absolutely reliable, helpful and experienced. He was quick to respond to all our queries and he fulfilled our wishes. Well spoken and written English. We were also served by his cousin Kuma, a very nice person and a good driver. Kuma even threw me a birthday party in the jungle ❤️😍!!!

We went on the 2 day tour to Kandy and Sygiria rock and Dambula caves. Had a great time, firstly riding the elephants and visiting the elephant orphanage. Sitting in the cafeteria with a great view watching the elephants bathing in the river was amazing . Stayed in kandy in hotel booked by Dim , nice hotel , before continuing for the second day of our tour . Dim has great knowledge, will answer any questions and nothing is too much trouble. He will tailor the trip to suit your requirements. Dim picked us up at 5am on day 1 , we returned after 8pm day 2 , which finished with a 5 hour journey back to hotel, but there was never any rush , Dim was happy to take as long as required even suggesting things he felt we may be interested in. Travelled in comfortable air conditioned vehicle . Definitely do not hesitate to book this guy , really is first class

We would highly recommend Dim Tours, having chauffeured us around Sri Lanka for a week showing us varied sights from Sigiriya Rock, Turtle Sanctuary, Tea plantation, Water Falls, Temples and a must oxen cart ride, Catamaran to a locals house for home cooked food. Which was delicious. The visit to the tsunami memorial was emotional, how the Sri Lankan people have recovered is remarkable. Travelled in a luxury air conditioned vehicle with free WI-FI and multiple stops for local fruit, nuts etc.

We did a 2 day tour with dim with various other trips thrown in. What a professional dim truly is. He greeted us at the airport and made our start to Sri Lanka a memorable one. Dim showed us so much more than just a tour advising us on his wonderful country. What a pleasure we will be back. Tom & Hannah
