Jogyesa Temple
Jogyesa Buddhist Temple, established in 1935 and located in downtown Seoul, serves as the center of Zen Buddhism in Korea. As you approach from the bustling streets of Jongno towards Anguk Subway Station, the temple unfolds as a peaceful retreat marked by its ancient white pine and 500-year-old locust and baeksong trees at the Daeungjeon, the main temple building. Visitors enter through the "Iljumun," a symbolic gate that divides the mundane world from the sacred realm of Buddha, where they can experience spiritual tranquility and admire the splendid golden statues.

Beautiful tour and fantastic experience to discover Korean culture. In addition our guide Cathy was very kind as well as very prepared. The tour starts at 9am and ends around 5pm. Lunch is included in a typical Korean restaurant. The guide helps in choosing the menu and how the food is served. Also with this tour you can visit places that alone would be difficult to reach. Transport by bus/van is included. The price is very reasonable.

We had an enjoyable day with MiaeYang(Cathy) with our visit to the Gyeongbokgung Palace with lots of information shared to us about the building and history. The Jogyesa Temple and associated gardens were full of colour and quite a surprise in the midst of the very busy heart of Seoul. Bulgogi Beef for lunch at the traditional Korean restaurant nearby was delicious and renewed our energy for the afternoon visits to Namsan Seoul Tower with a cable car ride to take in great views of Seoul on a mild, sunny day. A stop at the very bustling and interesting KwangJang Market showed us many food options if only we were still hungry after such a lunch.
