Estoril
Starting to develop early in the 20th. In the 20th century, Estoril gained a key role as an international tourist spot right from the beginning. With one of the biggest and oldest casinos in Europe, it attracted royalty, businessmen, and intelligence services during the neutrality of Portugal in World War II, with reference to the presence of Ian Flemming, who later wrote the novels of James Bond. Centro Historico de Cascais
Often called the Portuguese Riviera, Cascais's history as a cosmopolitan center originates in the late 19th century, when King Luis I and the Portuguese royal family made this seaside town their summer residence. During World War II and the post-war period, the area's royal affiliations intensified, as many heads of European royal houses and deposed monarchs made their homes in Cascais and Estoril, finding refuge in Portugal's neutrality. Booked a private photo panoramic tour in a Land Rover Defender where we visited Cascais, Cabo da Roca, Azenhas do Mar, and finally Sintra where we also booked a private wine tasting. The booking process was efficient and my questions answered promptly. Our tour guide, Paula, truly made the day feel special. Paula is a wonderful, beautiful soul who was easygoing, fun, and engaging and simply a great ambassador for Portugal. We saw many sights but the day never felt rushed. The private wine tasting in Sintra was icing on the cake as our host was equally personable and interactive. It was a fantastic day and I highly recommend this tour!

A fellow guide warned us that she, Kate, was the best - and OMG he was right! She’s a seasoned guide, intelligent, knowledgeable, thinks ahead, avoids all the pitfalls and gave us perfect advice on what to see and how to plan our day most effectively! Everything she said was spot on. In addition, she could tell us everything we wanted to know about the sites, Sintra, Lisbon, Portugal, Europe and in fact the world as she’s multilingual, born and bred Portuguese, a history graduate and well-traveled. She kept everything pleasant, lighthearted and interesting from beginning to end. My two teenage sons learned a great deal from her and said I should add that she’s warm, witty, energetic and chatty. A 10/10.

We had a fantastic time. Pedro, our Guide, was amazing. He was full of information and history and could talk about a wide range of topics. The Off Road experience was fun and we were happy to escape the city and see some of the country. The different sites at Sintra were closed because of the threat of wildfires. Despite this, we had an incredible experience and a very fun and memorable day.

We had an incredible experience exploring Sintra, Cascais and the surrounding regions with our guide Pedro Alves. From the moment he picked us up, Pedro was punctual, professional, and well prepared. He spoke english and french very well. He kept us informed and engaged throughout the day, sending helpful messages, offering background on what we were about to see, and making sure we were always comfortable. His knowledge of the history, culture and hidden gems of each location made the tour not only educational but also memorable. What stood out most was Pedro’s flexibility and genuine passion for what he does. He never made us feel rushed or constrained by time, allowing us to explore at our own pace while always keeping the day smooth and well-organized. His warm personality and attentiveness made us feel safe and well taken care of as if we were touring with a trusted friend and even when we went offroading in the Land Rover to explore off the beaten path! It was clear he takes great pride in his work and thanks to himwe left with both wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation for the region. Thanks Pedro

My daughter and her family toured with Pedro Alves a month before my wife and I arrived in early April. We contacted Pedro on her recommendation - and from our very first contact with him, it was clear that he would create an experience around our particular interests and abilities. We had a choice of vehicles - my wife selected The Hulk, a shiny green vintage Land Rover. Pedro picked us up at our hotel in Cascais exactly on time and began a detailed historical, cultural, and culinary narrative as we followed the coast north to the westernmost point in Europe, off-road to secluded cliffs high above the Atlantic Ocean, and then to Sintra, where Pedro had pre-booked timed entry to the fairytale Pena Palace. It was clear that Pedro was expert at his work: he pulled together stories of the region throughout the journey to Sintra, so that by the time we arrived at the Palace we were familiar with the characters who had lived there, and with why and when various structures had been built. His private tour for us was so informative that others began to follow to eavesdrop on Pedro's descriptions. I know that my wife and I were tourists, but with Pedro we were treated like locals. Our tour was on a Monday and when my wife ordered a local fish for lunch, the restaurant owner said something in Portuguese to Pedro, who suggested a different entree to my wife. Why? Because the restaurant owner had told him: "The fisherman here don't go out on Sunday. You don't want to order fish from Saturday." All during the tour, Pedro took photos, and shared them with us - and with our daughter back in the States. And he even offered tour and restaurant recommendations for our next destination - Lisbon. And so, we wholeheartedly booking your tour with Pedro Alves.

We had the luxury of having Paula for two days in a row for my boyfriend and I’s first visit to Lisbon 😊 we warmed to Paula instantly with always her bubbly joyfulness. She is so committed to making sure we have the BEST experience, making effort at every second to keep the excitement flowing. On day one we visited the bakery Pastéis de Belém for the traditional Pastel de Nata, set off for Cascais for the Boca do Inferno and the Sintra-Cascais Parque Natural. We then went to Cabo da Roca and Miradouro Da Praia Do Caneiro for amazing views!! We had the pleasure of seeing both sunny and misty weather, both absolutely beautiful. She took us to a lovely place for Lunch where there was an array of eatery options to suit every taste. We went with the Thai outlet and it was absolutely delicious 🤌 throughout our time, Paula was very patient and let us have refreshments and allowed time for us to breathe in the scenery and take plenty of photos and videos. Day two with Paula was planned throughout our first day, which is testament to just how much she cares for her customers to see all the best sights :) The second day Paula planned around us and was extremely patient as we had a kayak tour booked for Arrábida beach which she took us to, waited for us, bought us lunch and set off for the mountain with lots of coastline and wonderful views along the way. By the end of both days we were satisfied that we chose this tour with kind Paula!!! ❤️ We will be back for certain

Had a great day with our guide Paula. She was friendly and knowledgeable and we stopped at many beautiful sites along the coast and up in the hills. We particularly enjoyed a bit of off-roading to get up for fantastic views of Cabo da Roca. Lunch at Arribas Sintra Hotel was wonderful, on the deck outside overlooking the pool and surf. We avoided the worst of the traffic in and around Sintra, stopping for great views of the various castles. I would highly recommend this tour as a way to see the areas west of Lisbon.
