The Chilkoot Hike and Float Tour is an active, family-oriented hiking adventure along the world famous Chilkoot Trail. This wilderness hike takes place in the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Learn about the Gold Rush, Native Alaskan, and natural history of the region.

Depart Skagway for a 10-mile (16 km) scenic van tour along the coastline to the Chilkoot Trail trailhead and then enjoy 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking and 40 minutes on the raft. The hike is moderately strenuous so please be in good condition. Have your camera ready for occasional wildlife sightings both on land and in the water. Get away from the crowds in Skagway and get immersed in the natural beauty of the Dyea valley during the coastal forest hike and while floating down the peaceful river.

We had a delightful time walking one of the most beautiful forest trails that I have ever been on! Bob was great- a real character with fascinating stories and insight, and very considerate of everyone in the tour. Great experience!

A really good vigorous walk in the woods followed by a relaxed, but fast moving, float down the river. After being cooped up in the cruise ship and on bus tours I was happy to get out and take this guided walking tour. I don’t recommend this tour if, like me, you’re 65, need knee replacements, and are suffering a bad cold. Thankfully though, everything worked out well, I was able to keep up with the other two guests, a couple in their 20s, and I enjoyed myself. The guide took frequent breaks to point out different plants, animals, and geology. The raft portion of the trip is on a fast moving, but shallow, river. The passengers don’t have to do much other than to sit and not fall out of the raft, but the guide is very busy. We got to see eagles and river otters. This was a great break from the normal cruise ship routine.

We had a great experience! We had people greeting us as we got off our cruise ship which made it very easy. Bob our guide was great and so was Erin our driver. Bob was very knowledgeable and the scenery was amazing. Our group of 5 really appreciated the hike and float.

The hike and raft tour in Alaska is an unforgettable trip. We trekked through lush forests with wildlife and lots of plants before hitting the water for a relaxing rafting experience through glacial rivers. The knowledgeable guide and stunning vistas made every moment memorable!

Nice hike in the woods and float was fun. Less expensive and smaller than booking through the cruise line. Stewy was very knowledgeable and attentive.
