Located at the tip of the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford in Ireland's Ancient East, the Hook Lighthouse is the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, and has marked the entrance to Waterford Harbour for over 800 years. Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of this purpose-built, fully operational lighthouse. The visitor center features a gift shop, an art workshop, exhibits and a café. The Hook Lighthouse truly is one of a kind. This shared guided tour is available for groups of no more than 5.

What To Expect
Hook Lighthouse
Your admission ticket allows for a guided tour of the lighthouse starting at your chosen late-morning time. Your guide will walk you through 800 years of the history of light-keeping at Hook Lighthouse, giving you insight to how its keepers lived throughout the ages. You will meet St Dubhan and William Marshall (the greatest Knight) on your journey, while your guide regales stories from the lighthouse's past. The tour will culminate in spectacular views from the Balcony of the Lighthouse. In clear weather you can see for miles, and in a storm the spray often reaches the top of the lighthouse!

5.00We visited Hook Lighthouse with friends and had an amazing experience. The tour was so engaging and interactive and our tour guide was exceptional. Her passion for preserving and passing on the legacy of this incredible place was palpable and so contagious, that we all left the place buzzing and wishing that the tour was twice as long, so we can continue to enjoy the atmosphere for a little longer. Thank you guys for what you do. We would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to dip there toes into the history of Ireland and get to experience standing under the roof of an incredible building that has stood proudly on the shores of Ireland for centuries.

5.00We traveled from Sweden to visit Hook Lighthouse. It's a fantastic place with dramatic nature and a fascinating history. We joined the guided tour of the lighthouse, and our guide was Paul. Paul is an outstanding guide—engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. I truly recommend a visit to Hook Lighthouse.

3.00The staff was so nice. We were 2 hours late for our tour because we had a flat tire. They did not hesitate to fit us in. Despite the beautiful lighthouse and wonderful views from up top, the narration of the history was good but a bit too long and kind of hard to follow. I know that members of my party stopped listening because they couldn't follow.

5.00Stopped off in our campervan for the night had bit of food in the cafe which was excellent chicken sandwich and soup and glass of wine very reasonable. Next morning we had two small breakfasts again top notch.we then dome the tour with paul very entertaining and great guide a step back in time and we'll worth the visit .a big shout out to all the staff in the cafe and gift shop who were so pleasant full of chat and made the visit so much more worthwhile if your in the area it is well worth the visit.
