Pompeii Archaeological Park
Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.

Daniella and Roberta guided our group through Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. They could not be better. They shared the knowledge as a professional should. Highly recommend this experience and would request them if possible. Also, Giuseppe was an awesome driver and the bus was super comfortable.

Brilliant day trip full of history with Roberta as our tour guide! Super easy meeting and drop off in central locations. Roberta was a great tour guide offering loads of great information whilst on our journey to each location. Starting off at Pompeii we were put into another group with Mimi as our guide- he was hilarious! Such an informative and engaging tour of Pompeii. Vesuvius was another great experience with great views, small shops throughout the walk up offering souvenirs and drinks- even a small glass of Tears of Jesus wine (Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio).

I want to first say our guides were very nice and informative and this is nothing against them or their ability to conduct a tour. I had very high hopes for this experience and the Pompeii exhibit was very interesting however I highly recommend canceling if it is supposed to rain. We had umbrellas, ponchos and rain jackets and were absolutely soaked. Our clothes, shoes, etc. This tour is entirely outside and there is no cover from the rain. Trying to walk around with other tourists who are bumping umbrellas is very difficult and the puddles accumulate very quickly. The weather also canceled our visit to Mt. Vesuvius, but we did not know that until after we drove an hour up the mountain. We did get reimbursed within a few days and the tour guide was very apologetic. I recommend to all travelers to check the weather forecast before booking the tour.

Our guide Isabella was early at the meeting place so we didn't have to wander around. The bus ride to Pompeii went smoothly. We were told that stuff could be left in the bus if v did not want to carry them during Pompeii visit. We got an emergency meeting place to find the group again if we lost contact during the visit. Everything thoughtful and orderly. Everyone got a radio receiver so we could hear the guide. The guide Isabella was knowledgeable and very enthusiastic, it was possible to see on her that she still thought Pompeii was a marvel and was happy to show it to us. Her English was plain and clear. She responded knowledgeably and kindly to questions both about the excursion itself and about topics outside. During the visit we checked where there was a queue and which houses we could easily enter. The visit gave a good picture of the absolutely fantastic city of Pompeii. How well organized everything seemed to be, with symbols at street intersections so the illiterate could find their way, white marble pieces in the street pavement on the main roads so they could be distinguished in the dark. Inside one of the houses there were murals so beautiful that I can only wish my wallpapers at home were a fraction so fancy. After Pompeii we gathered in a restaurant where we could buy lunch. The bus then went up on Vesuvius with amazing views. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and windy so the top of the mountain was closed for safety reasons. We waited around the bus while Isabella stood outside for a long time to find out if it would be opened, that was not the case. So we had to settle for the bus ride to 1000 m altitude, without reaching the top on foot. This cannot be blamed on the guide who really tried. However, we were refunded part of the fee by the guide company on their own initiative. A very good trip, well organized informative and nice.

Roberta was a great guide with fantastic knowledge and a clear passion for archeology- our driver was also very skilful as he carefully negotiated the endless hairpin bends … Make sure you take the walk to the top of the volcano - it’s not easy but you will be rewarded with amazing views of the bay and crater from the top

What a great tour guide Roberta with IAMME IA we experienced! We started on our way to Pompeii first as she explained the history of Pompeii and the active vulcano Mt. Vesuvius. Once there, she took us to many of the ruins of Pompeii explaining each area of how the people lived, who they were, and how they lived and how the town was destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius. Absolutely an unforgettable tour! Then on to the active Mt. Vesuvius and the history of it. Winding bus ride, but the Driver was excellent!! We felt very safe with him - I'm sorry I don't remember his name. Once there. they dropped us off to climb up to Mt. Vesuvius. We're in our late 60s and early 70s and made it within the time allotted. Hard walk with many stops but well worth the trip!
