This 2 hour round trip will take you from the Willits valley floor to the highest point on our rail line. During this trip you will pass through Tunnel #2 and descend into the redwood-thick Noyo River Canyon – an amazing ecological wonderland, and an excellent opportunity to discover the mighty giants that made Mendocino County famous.
The train will stop briefly at Crowley while you enjoy the splendor of one of the oldest and most iconic trees along our route. The Wolf Tree was so named for the large growth off of one side – woodsman called these wolf trees because they choke out smaller trees and underbrush. Passengers are able to get off the train during our stop at Crowley, to better enjoy the views.
You'll make the trip to Crowley on board one of our historic Diesel-Electric engines.

The Wolf Tree Turn Skunk train from Willits was a relaxing trip back in time. The historic train and its story were interesting. It was fun to stop at and visit the abandoned town of Crowley next to the Wolf Tree. The experience was made all the more lively by the singing conductor playing the guitar and flute. It was a memorable trip!

The conductors and concession staff are so nice and informative. The views are incredible. We loved the open air observation car; you can look straight down into the gorges and valleys. Standing room only, but my teenager likes moving around and was thrilled about dog passengers. The decoration in the passenger cars were festive but unobtrusive, and it was fun to sing along with Malachi, the singing conductor.

My wife and I took my mom, sister, and niece about the Skunk Train for their first time to travel amongt the trees. We took our little dog Kobuk too. It was my wife and I's 3rd time boarding the train from Willits, and our dog's second time. (We had been on the rail bikes before in Fort Bragg.). We all had a great time. My mom and niece really like Malakai's songs. Although it's a bit of a drive for us (3-1/2 hrs from our house in Cupertino), it was worth it to spend some quality time with my family. Everyone at the train station was really accommodating too since I had to add my dog's ticket at the last minute. The fall colors on this trip were an added bonus. For sure we'll make this trip again! Much recommended!

We all had a great time on the Skunk Train Pumpkin Express and so did the dogs. We got the VIP package - lunch was great! Would definitely do another Skunk Train ride again.

The drive into the woods is always pleasant. The kids loved it. I wish we were able to enjoy more time at the pumpkin patch which was only 25 mins. Prices for children are a bit high, it’s the same as a paying adult which is already on the pricey side

This was a fun ride with a very friendly crew. The singing conductor was good. They allowed food on the train and also served snacks and drinks. I was abit disappointed with the trees only because I had seen so many massive redwoods farther north. So take a ride for the fun of it- not just to see redwoods.

The trip was good, with amazing views and live music. The music conductor did an awesome job. However it’s a bit over priced. Also the afternoon trips are hot.

We had a great time, the singer on the train made the experience better. The people on the train were fun. You have to do this at least once in your life.
