5.00Releasing a sky lantern in Shifen was one of the most memorable moments of my trip to Taiwan. The tradition is simple but very special: you write your wishes on the lantern, then you let it fly into the sky. There is even a local legend that says the higher your lantern rises, the more likely your wishes are to come true — which makes this moment even more magical. The price is about 250 TWD (approximately 8 to 9 USD), and it is truly worth it. The staff guides you throughout the process and also takes photos and videos for you, making the experience even more enjoyable and stress-free. You will find many shops offering this activity as soon as you arrive in Shifen, so it is very easy to organize. Watching the lantern rise above the tracks and mountains is simply beautiful — a unique and unforgettable experience that I highly recommend.
