What To Expect
Plaza San Martin
Our first stop on the historic city-center portion of our tour. Here we recognize one of Peru's most well-known liberators, Jose de San Martin.
Museo Convento San Francisco y Catacumbas
Also known as the St. Francis Monastery in English, the church and convent were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991. The site contains a world-renown library with about 25,000 antique texts and in the catacombs beneath it is estimated that this same number of people were laid to rest. Today you can explore the once hidden passages and observe the uniquely displayed remains of first Limeños.

An amazing tour on Lima’s Birthday

5.00This is a wonderful introduction to Lima. Edgar, out guide, gave us a detailed description on Lima’s history, historical sites, government structure, and its 43 neighborhoods and even tested our understanding at points along the journey. Ismail, our driver, adeptly maneuvered through the heavy traffic and blocked roads as the streets were filled with both locals and travelers from the countryside as well as us tourists for Lima’s birthday celebration. We really enjoyed the Museo Larco where Edgar explained many interesting details behind the impressive artifacts mostly from pre-Columbia times. The lunch at the museum was truly outstanding. Highly recommend.

5.00We had a wonderful day in Lima. Highlights were the catacombs, Larco Museum (and lunch there as well on the stunning patio). My cousin had a request to eat guinea pig, known as 'cuy', and after some perseverance our the part of our guide (Myra?) a restaurant was found. Myra was from the Andes, and shared the dish with Karen - not often eaten by Lima locals. There was live Andean music, and she even got up and danced! It was such a top day, and I felt we had seen some real highlights, as well as had a personal experience made for us.
