Your tour starts when we pick you up from your Auckland central accommodation in one of our comfortable Mercedes Sprinters.

One of our friendly, informative, and helpful guides will include a full commentary on the way to Hobbiton with insights into the beautiful farmland areas you are travelling through and background to the movie set you are visiting. On the way down to Hobbiton there is a brief stop at a local café in case you want to buy some local baking or a coffee (or as we like to call it a ‘second breakfast’).

5.00I had the absolute pleasure of having Damien as my tour guide on the Hobbiton Express Tour from Auckland. From the moment I boarded the bus, Damien made everyone feel like family, he took the time to get to know each and every one of us. Not only did we gain incredible insight into all things Hobbiton and The Lord of the Rings, but we also enjoyed a fascinating lesson in New Zealand’s history. He had the entire bus hanging on his every word! Our guide at Hobbiton, Collin, was equally fantastic, informative, engaging, and full of fun energy that made the experience even more memorable. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. It was such an amazing experience that I’d happily do it all over again!

5.00This is the second time we have booked this tour to go to Hobbiton. The first visit was in December of 2023 and included just myself and my husband. This time we went with our daughter. While the tour of the actual site is conducted by a separate group at Hobbiton itself, Bush and Beach transported us from the doorstep of our AirBnB to Hobbiton and back again. The tour operator was entertaining and informative during the ride there and back and even took to a few fun stops along the way. I would definitely recommend getting the marquee lunch. The food is really quite excellent (and the desserts amazing!). Compared to the first visit about 18 months earlier, this visit felt more rushed, but that had little to do with Bush and Beach - it was mostly time onsite that felt short. Nevertheless, this is definitely a "must do" for even casual fans of either The Hobbit or Lord of the Rings.

3.00Damian is very knowledgeable but trip was cut short due to other people in the tour group wanted to go back early. We waited a year and spent the money for airfare and tour just to see Hobbiton. We did not get to see the front door. It is very disappointing. This is the whole reason for our trip. We paid for our share of the tour too!!! 😭

5.00This was a perfect day out. Our driver (Kelly I think) was super - so knowledgable of NZ and shared lots of info on the drive up with I loved, and then the Hobbiton tour itself? I adored every second. It's been on my bucket list since forever, and it lived up to every expectation. The tour guide was great, the set was phenomenal, and the lunch after was lovely. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00From the pickup to drop off at my hotel, my experience with Bush and Beach’s small group tour to Hobbiton was a delight. Damien took such good care of our group, and in many ways he was more informative than our actual guide at Hobbiton. In addition to all of the extra information about Hobbiton, the Alexanders and Peter Jackson, Damien shared a great deal of information with us about New Zealand history, culture, values and environment. I recommend selecting Bush and Beach for your tour to Hobbiton without reservation and hope that you are lucky enough to have Damien as your driver for the informative and beautiful drive there and back.

His knowledge of the local area and great personality really made our day. Thank you to the team. Hobbiton was amazing - scenery has to be seen to be believed. Highly recommend the marquee lunch too. Just amazing experience - five stars for sure!
