An orientation walk through the Antigua Market to experience and meet the community. Lead by an English speaking guide who lives in Antigua.
This is not your average walking tour. While not led by someone born in the market, your guide is deeply connected to the people who were — offering an insider-style introduction to one of Antigua’s most vibrant communities. The market is more than buying and selling; it’s daily life in motion from before sunrise. This experience explores areas that bring the market to life: meats, seafood, fruits and vegetables, chicken buses, clothing, incense, floral stalls, hardware, kitchenware, artisan goods, food courts, ceviche spots, and more. Meet vendors, learn local rhythms, and experience the culture behind the stalls.

The market in Antigua Guatemala is a lively and colorful hub of local life where both residents and visitors shop for everything from fresh produce and meats to handmade crafts and textiles. The Central Market and surrounding stalls offer a mix of daily essentials like tropical fruits and vegetables as well as artisan goods such as woven fabrics, jade jewelry, pottery, and souvenirs—bargaining is common and part of the experience. It’s busiest on traditional market days (often Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays), and wandering through narrow aisles gives a real sense of Guatemalan culture and community. Beyond shopping, the market also features food stalls serving local dishes, making it a social and sensory highlight of Antigua.

We booked last minute on Tuesday night and met Guy on Wednesday morning. We met him and then went and "got lost" in the market, as he says. We spent more than 2 hours "getting lost" with Guy and learnt so much. He is from Canada but has been guiding central america and guatemala for several years. He shared his wealth of knowledge with us and we had plenty of laughs. We got to make out own tortillas with some local ladies. We tried cushin which we've never seen before and it was sweet. We got a hot corn drink that was good too. Walking around with Guy in the market was genuinely a great way to spend the morning. We highly recommended going to "get lost" in the market with Guy.

We did a horse back sunset tour with this same provider and enjoyed it. The market walk was super informative and we got to try several different things we wouldnt havr tried otherwise. Meeting all the people was my favorite part of this tour. The guide was very friendly and gave us lots of stories about everything GUATEMALA. Thank you

This tour made the market come alive. We sampled local snacks, learned about Guatemalan ingredients, and heard stories you wouldn’t get on your own. The guides energy made it so much fun, and he clearly cares about supporting local vendors.

Our guide Ghee took his time walking us around every little nook and cranny of this massive market. He introduced us to several things we never tried which was fun, and he helped point out areas we might want to come back to, especially the second hand clothing area where if we had more time we could really enjoy searching through it all.

Highly recommend doing this early in your trip. The market is like a maze, and the guide helps you navigate it while explaining what you’re seeing. He was hilarious but also super respectful and knowledgeable. We left feeling connected to the community.

Not your typical walking tour. We learned about local produce, traditional foods, and the people behind the stalls. The guides storytelling made it engaging the entire time. You can tell he has strong relationships in the market community. Great way to talk to a local and set up everything for your next days as well

We met Don Diego and he walked us through the market showing us plenty of different areas and introducing us to many things we wouldn't have found on our own. It wasnt like a walking tour filled with dates and history, more like kind of just walking around with a friend who was telling us about a bunch of random stuff
