Yunnan Road Food Street
Yunnan Road, Shanghai's famous 'Gourmet Street.' It's packed with decades-old, time-honored restaurants serving the most classic and authentic Shanghainese dishes. It's a must-visit for anyone wanting to taste the real, traditional flavors of the city.
Great World (Da Shi Jie)
The Great World (大世界),opened in 1917, this wasn't just an amusement park; it was the absolute heart of Shanghai's entertainment universe for decades. In its heyday, you could come here and find everything: acrobats tumbling, magicians performing, opera singers, comedy shows, fortune tellers, and even just cheap, delicious street food. It was the ultimate escape for everyone, from wealthy socialites to everyday workers. It was the place to see and be seen. Now, it's more of a curated museum of fun, but its spirit is absolutely timeless.

Really great tour, Jane was very nice and showed me a lot of great places and great food. A couple of the places we went would be difficult to get into without long waits but she made this all go seamlessly. I would 100 percent recommend.

I've lived in Shanghai for three years and thought I'd tried it all. Jenny proved me wrong. From the spicy chicken at Sichuan Resturaunt to the perfectly balanced coconut dessert in the end, every bite felt new . Jenny wove in history, local legends, and even stopped to show us the Former Jewish Recreation Club along the way. It's rare to find a tour that surprises a local. This one did. Thank you, Monster Day Tours Shanghai!

The Shanghai After Dark Food Tour was hands down one of the coolest nights of our trip. Experiencing the city after sunset gave it a completely different energy — neon lights, buzzing streets, and late-night food stalls packed with locals. It felt vibrant and alive in a way that daytime sightseeing just can’t capture. Our guide, Chris, made the entire evening effortless and fun. He had the perfect balance of knowledge and humor, sharing stories about the neighborhoods while guiding us confidently through the lively streets. With Monster Day Tours handling all the details, we never had to worry about where to go or what to order. From sizzling skewers on bustling Zhejiang Road to cozy late-night eateries tucked into side streets, every stop felt authentic and thoughtfully chosen. What made the tour special was how immersive it felt ,we weren’t just tasting dishes, we were experiencing Shanghai’s night culture. Sharing plates, trying bold flavors, and walking through glowing streets together created the kind of memories you talk about long after the trip ends. If you want to see a different side of Shanghai, this tour is an absolute must.

I booked this food tour while traveling solo in Shanghai and it was a solid experience. We covered a lot of ground around Zhejiang Road and People’s Park, areas that feel much more 'real' than the typical tourist spots. The food was definitely the highlight, tried some traditional items and heritage pastries that I probably wouldn't have known how to order on my own. Alice was a helpful guide. She was friendly and kept the group together well while sharing some interesting bits about the local culture and the history of the dishes we were eating. Everything felt very authentic and the pace was comfortable.

This tour was such a special way for us to spend the evening. Instead of just dining out, it felt like we were stepping into different layers of Shanghai culture right here in Singapore. From lively streets filled with energy to more intimate dining spots, every stop revealed a new side of the cuisine and the stories behind it. Our guide, Michael, made the entire experience seamless and engaging. He struck the perfect balance between sharing cultural insights and keeping the atmosphere relaxed and fun. We never felt rushed, and he navigated each location effortlessly, allowing us to simply enjoy the food and the moment. What we loved most was how the route connected tradition with modern influences, showing how Shanghai cuisine continues to evolve while staying rooted in heritage. The pacing was ideal, indulgent, immersive, and full of great conversation. We left feeling satisfied not just by the incredible dishes, but by the deeper understanding of the culture behind them. Highly recommended for couples or anyone looking for a vibrant, flavour-packed evening experience

As a first-time visitor, I knew nothing much about Shanghai. However, this tour introduced us to a whole array of insights in just a few hours. We could feel the fusion spirit of the East meeting West as well through the things we saw like the iconic Starbucks Roastery to other places like the Zhang Garden. We also tried a variety of dishes that I might not have ordered on my own. Definitely recommend this tour and also the guide, Jane!

Shanghai After Dark experience delivers something increasingly rare in a global megacity: authenticity. This wasn’t just a food tour—it was an immersion into Shanghai’s nightly rhythms and social rituals. I lived the evening like a local where sitting shoulder to shoulder with office workers to sharing dessert and stories that lingered long after the plates were cleared. Especially the small-group format also encouraged a hearty conversation, turning strangers into genuine travel companions. I find the food delicious, and experience is deeply satisfying.

I loved the morning food tour so much that I signed up for the evening one right before leaving Shanghai. And Monster Day Tours Shanghai totally delivered—more surprises than I expected. Not only did I get to taste authentic Shanghai dishes and visit super popular restaurants with long queues, but I also had my favorite Sichuan food. A bit spicy, but incredibly authentic! The biggest surprise was the dessert—literally the best I've had in years. Delicious, healthy, and absolutely satisfying. Along the way, we visited places where local young Shanghainese hang out on weekends—super authentic. I even made new friends! The vibe was just amazing. If it's your first time in Shanghai and you want to get a real taste of the local culture and scene in a short time, the Monster Day Tours Shanghai Night Food Tour offers incredible value. Don't miss it!
