Silk Cayes is a marine reserve consisting of 3 small islands formerly known as the Queen Cayes. This Marine Reserve hosts over 25 species of reef fish, with a variety of coral and other marine life! The Silk Caye is one of healthiest areas in the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System due to its location and protected status. It is a great destination to snorkel, scuba dive or simply spend a day on the island! Snorkelers explore the reefs surrounding the islands. Scuba Divers explore the the barrier reef wall and other dive sites the Silk Cayes have to offer. As a bonus just before returning to Placencia, everyone has an opportunity to snorkel with rays, sharks and (usually) huge turtles in an area where the local fishermen clean their catch - when the critters hear the boat engines, they think it is meal time and come to the dive boat.

Around midday, enjoy an authentic Belizean picnic lunch. Afterward, dive back into the water to explore more of the vibrant corals and marine life that call Silk Cayes home. The best part is yet to come! Turtle Alley, a spot just inside the barrier reef where local fishermen clean their catch, offering you the exciting opportunity for close encounters with huge turtles, rays, and nurse sharks.

The snorkelling tour was amazing. Cant recommend enough. Nice helpful guides showing a lot of reef and fish. Unfortunately we didn’t see turtles. Boat ride is pretty bumpy so be ready for that. Also - bring sunscreen with you. There are three separate snorkelling events during this trip and it’s good to reapply the sunscreen.

Excellent tour! While the weather wasn’t on our side today tour guides still made sure we had an amazing experience! We saw so many types of fish, some sharks, swam in the beautiful sea and had a great lunch! Our guides knew so much and taught us way more than I ever expected!

The snorkeling was fantastic! The guide was very knowledgable and kept a good pace around the reefs. It was enjoyable that the guide repeated the names of the fish we'd see in the water multiple times to allow everyone to hear the name properly so we could learn something as well.

Amazing day! They take care of you from beginning to end. See dolphins, beautiful corals, so many fish, turtles and nurse sharks. They guided us through the coral and even set us to wander around a bit ourselves. Ask about the coral nursery! So cool!

Silk Cayes is a particularly beautiful location for snorkeling / diving. Under the guidance of the staff of Splash Diving it is a fantastic experience!

My friend and I had the most amazing time snorkeling at the Silk Caye. Captain Ian and guide, Moses were professional, but also fun and relatable. We were lucky enough to see turtles, nurse sharks, spotted eagle rays, sting rays, barracudas, and a host of amazing tropical fish around the gorgeous coral. The boat ride was about an hour from Placencia. It went by quickly and there was an excellent playlist for the experience. The gear was in great condition and made by quality brands. Highly recommend booking!

This crew is amazing! We had 3 snorkelers and 6 divers on our boat. Our guide, Bryan, was so great. He pointed out all the beautiful underwater creatures. We saw sharks, lobsters, huge sting rays and a giant turtle who swam with us for quite a while! 10 out of 10 would do this again. Worth every penny!

Our first snorkeling experience couldn’t have been better! We explored crystal-clear waters and saw incredible marine life, from colorful coral formations to schools of tropical fish. Our guides were fantastic—they made sure we felt confident and safe while snorkeling. They even showed us a local barracuda that fed on scraps, which was both fascinating and a great lesson in marine conservation. We also saw a nurse shark and several stingrays. This was an unforgettable adventure that I’ll cherish forever.
