A wonderful way to explore the Arctic landscape of Northern Norway!
Snowshoeing is a great means to immerse yourself in our wild nature and to traverse even the snowiest areas.
The scenic drive along the fjord makes a perfect beginning of the tour. At the destination our guide leads you to one of the summits on Kvaløya island or on the mainland. Relish the feeling of crunching over, rather than sinking into, the pristine snow. Great views over majestic mountains and fjords are the reward for the effort - we hike around 400 meters elevation to reach the top. Therefore the trip requires you to be used to physical activity, but previous snowshoeing experience is not required.
Wearing proper winter boots and warm clothes is a must on this tour.
We take good time for breaks to take photos, learn about the local nature and culture, and savor a hot drink and snack on route.

The tour starts with a scenic 40-minute road trip around the fjords and mountain passes. On arrival, we learn how to use the snowshoes before we start our adventure! We hike to one of the smaller summits with majestic views over the surrounding mountains and fjords (if, of course, the weather allows!). During the hike we stop a few times for rests, photos and to share our knowledge about our region and the Arctic environment. At the summit we take a longer break to enjoy a hot drink and try some delicious lefse – a local sweet snack. We hike in snowy mountain terrain towards a summit located on approx. 400 m so a moderate level of fitness and health is required. The tour is not suitable for guests with a heart condition or limited physical abilities.

The hike was excellent and the scenery was stunning. It was not very difficult so don’t worry about that. The only negative was our Tour guide was not the most friendly. I emailed a few days before asking what time to meet at the pickup and I never got a response. So we arrived at the time stated on the app and were repeatedly given out to by the tour guide that we were late (we got there 5-10mins after everyone else apparently) For the rest of the trip the tour guide was not very friendly to us. She was not a bad tour guide but I wouldn’t say she was any bit enthusiastic about the hike.

Wonderful hike, so different from other tours. Excellent and rewarding view of Tromso up the mountain. Had already recommended this trip to other visitors. The hot tea and sweet are perfect in the windy condition. Btw, what’s the name of the mountain that we went? How high is it? Thanks again for leading us!

The hike was very good, we went up a mountain in Whale island and back down. Our guide, Martha, took us through every step and was very nice. The weather was great and we enjoyed some great views! Totally recommend

Our experience snowshoeing with Michal was the biggest highlight of our 1-week trip in Tromso. It was such a pretty and memorable day. Michal was so enjoyable and had a calm manner, he went at the perfect pace for all of us to be able to enjoy and make good time at the same time without missing the beauty of the mountains. When we got to the top, it was the most beautiful view we saw the entire trip. Michal was super fun and kept a good vibe the whole trip. We had a couple of activities with Tromso Outdoor, and if we ever go back to Tromso, we certainly will book more activities with them; they are very reliable, hassle-free and professional. I recommend them 100%

It was a great experience as it was our first time to do snowshoe hill hiking. Weather was good and our guide, Michael was amazing. He was extremely knowledgeable about the snow capped mountains and gave a detailed explanation of the whole journey. We would highly recommend this activity.

Since the avalanche risk was high, our guide Martha moved the trip to a safer area. Indeed, about 70 cm of fresh snow had fallen late at night and allowed us to evolve in a beautiful all-white terrain. Thanks to the guide for making the trace and also carried a delicious snack for all participants.

Really loved the guided snow shoe trip with tromso outdoors, the weather was ideal, scenery was amazing. Could have done with a couple more brief stops on the way up to take photos, but I know guide had limited daylight to get us up to the top and down again. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, great trip.
