What To Expect
Basin St. Station
Tour gathers and departs from inside of Basin St. Station. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to tour time to collect your tickets and tour stickers and to be prepared for a timely tour departure. Basin St. Station is a lovely visitors center where you will find a wide array of exhibits about New Orleans, an interactive map about Hurricane Katrina floodwaters, a Cafe, pristine restrooms, a gift shop, and more.

At the time of your tour departure, your tour guide will greet you at the Cemetery Tour Desk inside of Basin St. Station. Your tour will begin promptly with a short walk across the street, up to the front gates of the Cemetery. Step inside the gates for your in-depth tour of historic St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.

5.00We had the kindest, most knowledgeable tour guide, Mary. She spent the hour giving us so many tidbits and she had personal connections with some of those who were buried here. The highlights are the Nicolas Cage tomb (pyramid) and certainly Marie Leveau. Mary's grandparents knew her so we learned some much about the "Voodoo goddess"...who was a nurse and much, much war. It gets super hot so bring water, sunscreen, hat etc and a fan. Had to reschedule due to the rain and I'm thrilled that we didn't miss it on our NOLA visit.
Fun, interesting and I would definitely recommend.

5.00Really enjoyed it! So much history. The host was great! He knew his stuff. It was fun and very interesting. I would definitely recommend. I felt it was worth the thirty dollars I paid. It was a little over an hour tour. Very pleased we took the tour!

5.00This was our favorite experience in New Orleans. I had been looking forward to this for months, but we arrived in the city during a weeklong downpour. Stopping in the fabulous tour desk/museum/gift shop, we asked how likely a tour would be cancelled due to weather the next day. They offered to switch our tickets to a tour starting in 15 minutes, and we beat the weather! The tour was fascinating and informative. Zelda was amazing as a guide! I think it was the right amount of time and the right amount of history. Then we headed back to the depot, where we spent a lot of money in the gift shop! Bonus that this depot is also a stop on the Hop-On Hop-Off this tour so we spent the rest of the morning doing the loop! Fabulous experience for a history lover!
