What To Expect
With the turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea as your backdrop, take a sensory expedition guided by the mixologist at the Brighton Beach Deck and Bar. Start with your Welcome cocktail and discover the history and techniques of rum production in our wall exhibit. Next, taste for yourself the diversity of styles and flavour profiles that make Barbados rum famous, as you sample four exceptional rums from the celebrated in-house Rum ranges. These specially selected rums are perfect examples of our mission at West Indies Rum Distillery: to create the world’s finest rum, on the island where rum was born. Continue to drink in the beauty of Barbados with a moment on the soft sand of Brighton Beach, to the rhythm of the gently lapping waves outside our door.

5.00We went on the tour on the recommendation of a family member and we weren’t disappointed. Our group travelled to the distillery by the local bus service which dropped us on the main road and then about a 15 minute walk to Stade’s site. The beach side setting of the distillery is lovely. There was a friendly welcome from staff and as we were early for our tour we enjoyed our complimentary rum punch on the deck overlooking the beach. Our tour was led by Asha who was enthusiastic, amusing and very knowledgeable about the rum making process and the history of the company. The tour lasted well over an hour and I would say it was good value for money when compared to the entrance fees for other distilleries on the island. The rum tasting consisted of sampling 5 rums with tasting techniques and tasting notes from Asher. The tasting takes place on a high deck overlooking the beach. After the tasting we returned to the well stocked gift shop and purchased some bottles of rum and other souvenirs. Some of our party brought well priced and nicely cooked food lunch from the cafe and then we spent time on the beach which is equipped with sunbeds and sunshades. A very enjoyable visit judged good value for money with the additional bonus of its beachside location.

5.00The view was amazing and the food was great! We had Joy for the rum tasting! Joy was very amazing, had great energy and very patient! I would do this over a 5 hour rum tasting tour! We were able to hangout at the beach afterwards as well!

5.00We did the rum tasting and it was very informative and entertaining. But the highlight was the beautiful quiet beach that we had access to after the tasting. Add the great food and drinks and we really couldn't have asked for a better day. Highly recommend!

5.00Great time! The Stades Representative that did the rum tasting was very entertaining and knowledgeable. She walked us through the tasting adding humour throughout keeping us entertained. We had lunch which was excellent before taking advantage of the beach chairs. The beach was clean, as most are throughout Barbados and the ocean floor in that area was sandy so we didn’t need water shoes to enjoy our beautiful ocean swims. All in all a great experience.

5.00Beautiful uncrowded beach with soft white-pink sand (coral), calm seas, horses nearby, and oh yeah, a rum distillery. The rum tasting (5 varieties) was interesting and no pressure to buy. Staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks were better than expected. We met a couple who came back for a second rum tour and beach day because it was so pleasant. If we had the time we would do that too. 10 out of 10.

5.00The actual tasting was nice but pretty quick. More importantly, the beach it gets you access to is fantastic! Super private compared to most of the beach clubs centered around Carlisle Bay. We had a great day!

5.00Outstanding! Tasting leader Joy was excellent and the atmosphere and facilities were fabulous. The beach is absolutely gorgeous. We spent the entire day and couldn't have enjoyed our time there more. Super value for $30 each. Highly recommend!
