Fun technical volcano hike! Thanks to Jay and Jerry, who got us up safely.

Please believe me when I say that this was by far the most challenging experience I have ever undertaken on a trip. Do not attempt unless you are in pretty good shape as it is extremely physical and exhausting both uphill and down. However the guides were great and I never felt unsafe as they were always looking out for us. Great feeling of accomplishment.

I have realized that hiking is much better in a familiar group of people who have similar abilities. I was with a group of very slow hikers and it made for an excruciatingly long trek…..1/2 event but ends up being a full day. Tour guides were fine but nothing too special.

I want to begin by saying this is a strenuous to difficult hike if you aren't in great shape. I'm 47 and in decent shape but this was a struggle. Went with my 13 year old son and he was worn out after but was much easier for him. J was our tour guide, did a wonderful job of being patient. Beautiful rainforest and especially at the peak. Saw one monkey, kid got a kick out of that. Had a group of 7, pickup was easy and communication prior was prompt. Would highly recommend if difficult hikes are your thing!

I found it to be very challenging. I am in moderate shape and 61 years old. The rainforest is beautiful. I recommend it if you are in really good shape and strong.

We booked rainforest hike, this one went 3 hours! There was another one with volcano visit this went between 5-6 hours! The guide didn't know there were two tours ! Thought there are only the people with longer excursion! He constantly ran away in front and also helped no one! At least what we saw! Did then cancel it, because didn't want so much and then had to walk back alone and then were not picked up and had to take us another taxi for a fee! And if I try to request a refund, my trip doesn't exist!

Tough hike, but views at top were worth it. Very unique experience. Our guide, Jay, was great - a mix of kindness, patience, and encouragement!

Truly, an unforgettable experience. My family has done a lot of hiking but this one topped it all for sure. Jay, our guide was fantastic. Told us a lot of history, was great about pointing out safety tips and how to navigate the tough spots, and took appropriate please for our group (which was just my kids and I ). It is very challenging terrain, and I am very fit. Lots of rock faces, branches, natural stairs, mud, and can be slippery in spots. My kids, 11 and 13, did very well and can’t stop talking about how amazing it was. Recommend bringing a regular backpack with room for the water, Gatorade and chips the guide provides, not a shoulder bag or drawstring bag. It can get a little cool at the top so if you’re from southern climates, you might want to bring something long sleeve to put on. Highly recommend!

This climb is uphill most of the way (for 2-1/2 hours!) and a full body workout, hiking, climbing, and pulling yourself up over tree roots and rocks/boulders (5 miles round trip). My husband and I are 69/67 yrs., in pretty good shape, work out, and have hiked some challenging hikes, but this one was tough. The last section to top was a steep climb up large rocks. It had started to rain and another guide coming down said there was no visibility, and given that and our fatigue we chose not to finish. Rain made the decline slightly more slippery to navigate. Still it was a fun story to tell friends about, and no regrets. Every muscle in my body hurt for two days! I highly recommend if you’re young-ish and in great shape. A friend shared their pic of the top. Beautiful! Our guides - Jay and Quini - were excellent and offered help over some tricky sections. They were very personable and we enjoyed our conversations.
