Stone Town

The Old Town is the historical center of Zanzibar City, the capital of the Zanzibar Islands. As a major trading center for spice, silk, and slave trade routes for over a millennium, the Old City has been a unique meeting place, blending African, Indian, Arab, and European cultures. It is one of the few ancient cities left in Africa. Its beauty and historical value have made it a good place on the UNESCO world heritage list. Not only is this city beautiful to the eyes, with old colonial buildings and doors carved with Zanzibari beauty, but your senses will be overwhelmed by the smell of the sea and perfumes and the calls to prayer from the minarets.
The Old Fort (Ngome Kongwe)
It oldest building in stone town around 1560. Today in stone is the largely product of Zanzibar occupation by the yaarub who expell the Portuguese from the island following their capture of Mombasa and effectively ending the Portuguese colonialism in the process. And also provide an opportunity to understand the Portuguese occupation up until the oman took over in 1698.
