Surf Mama is a project created with love and born from a dream. Between adventures and challenges, we invite you to embark on this exciting journey with Surf Mama.

Surf Mama School is a surf school where the passion for waves and the desire to teach merge harmoniously. Located in Peniche, the best place in Europe and Portugal to surf, our goal is to provide a unique and enriching experience for all our students, regardless of age or skill level.

At Surf Mama School, we offer a variety of services that complement surfing. Surfskate classes and Video Analysis are new services that you can try to improve your performance in the water and get results faster. All these services are available for children, young people and adults.

Come and meet us, share unforgettable moments in the sea, immerse yourself in this surrounding culture, taste the local food, contemplate the best sunset, feel the intensity of this sea that embraces us and embark on this adventure of being a surfer.

What To Expect

Our headquarters are located in Peniche, but we adopt a mobile approach. Every day, we move between the beaches of Peniche, Baleal and Ferrel in search of ideal conditions for surfing, adjusting to the specific safety conditions for each level of learning and participant. 1- Customers are advised to go to the location previously indicated by the surf school, as communicated in advance to all those who make reservations via email or Whatsapp. Upon arriving at the agreed point, they will find all the necessary technical equipment (suit, board and leash), with the instructor ready to provide instructions and lead students to the beach for the surf lesson. 2- After the end of the surf lesson, customers must return the technical equipment to the responsible instructor, allowing the school to transport it back to the physical storage location.

Highly recommended! From the first contact you notice that these people want to convey the passion and art of surfing. Clear and friendly communication in advance, warm welcome on site. More than enough parking and an outdoor shower to rinse off the excess sand afterwards. During the lessons themselves, you will not only learn how to surf, but you will also be presented with the necessary warming exercises as safety rules. Even the correct handling of the material is an important point that is discussed. Everyone was super friendly and the coaches are really top. We immediately booked a second session after a first session. That was also no problem for Surf Mama School. 👌

Fantastic surf experience by a family including a teen. First, Surf Mama school is great in their communications — timely and detailed on where to meet and what to expect. Second, our teacher (Alex) was super friendly and excellent in his instructions; short theory on the beach then learning while doing. Last, next to us there was a big group while we were with just us: you could see how much more and quicker we learned because all the attention was for us. Thank you!

Maria is an amazing teacher and has local knowledge of the area. She was patient and went through a lot of the theory around surfing, which may sound boring but it was delivered in an engaging way and definitely helped me understand better what I'm trying to do when in the water. I highly recommend taking some lessons with her if you're in the Baleal area

We stayed in Peniche by the way and I decided to do a private surf lesson. I didn’t know any schools but I had been recommended surf mom. I contacted them and it was all very easy and well priced. Sara made it for me. Super professional and motivating. I will not hesitate to repeat with them if I return to Portugal! Highly recommended!

Just great, we couldn’t have better teacher. Before the first lesson, I really didn’t want to go surfing and I was afraid (especially because of the waves), but Ines is so great that she let me understand that there’s no place for fear and at the end of the lesson I really enjoyed it and the fear was away. I’m looking forward for the next lessons.

Maria was my surf guide and surf trainer for a couple of weeks during my stay in Peniche area. She showed me many good surf spots in the area while she gave me tips and recommendations to improve my surfing. After a few days, I experienced how my surfing greatly improved. Maria took the effort to film my surfing and analyse my stance and technique. Overall, these days with Maria had provided me lessons which I'll be practising for many years to come. I couldn't recommend highly enough Maria for beginner and intermediate surfers who want to improve their surfing.
