Tico's is a family-run business with more than 17 years of experience and a lot of passion for what we do. We care a lot about your safety, so all of your instructors are also certified lifeguards. Book your surf lessons with us, whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced; we guarantee fun and safety at all levels – and all ages. We love teaching families and young kids as much as adults and friend groups.
We offer private, semi-private and group lessons for different prices. If you come alone and would like to participate in a group lesson, we can try to match you with fellow solo travelers.
After your lesson, you will be able to lend a surfboard to practice on your own for free and you are always welcome to come back should you have any questions about surfing or the area. We are also happy to provide you with tips for any other tours in and around Sámara.

What To Expect
All your classes last 1 hour to 90 minutes depending on conditions and customer, and you will be able to practice on your own with your board afterwards or later! All lessons begin with a briefing (according to the student's level) on position, safety, and surfboard handling. The instructor then selects the board, and once ready, the adventure of the surfing lesson in the ocean begins. We are also happy to provide you with high class pictures of your experience. Due to changing tides, weather, and conditions, we do not follow a fixed schedule at Tico’s Surf School, but instead offer individual appointments. Please note that this ticket serves only to ensure your booking and get in touch with us a few days prior to your booking to find the perfect time slot depending on tide and experience level. We cannot guarantee a surf lesson if you simply show up with a ticket!

5.00Our surf instructor Danny was incredible for me and my Wfie! He made everything seem so simple and fun, and I was able to stand up on a wave right away on my first time surfing. Then, once he saw we got the basics he started to show us more advanced moves. Highly recommend going with Danny.

5.00We had a great morning surfing with Slathan and Emerson. They explained everything very well and helped us catch some beautiful waves. Also very child friendly. Our boys (9 and 11 years old) learned quickly and had a lot of fun. Can highly recommend! If you want to get some surf lessons in Samara, book with Tico's!

5.00Excellent surfing experience with Slathan. I was a total beginner in surfing and I enjoyed the private lesson. He was nice, calm and professional. I was able to get the basics with him. I therefore recommend the lesson and the school because all was perfect from explanations, booking, lesson itself up to the borrowing of surfboard which is included in the price for somtheing like 2-3 hours after your lesson.

His explanations are clear and easy to understand, and he really takes the time to help you improve, no matter your level. The lesson was fun, safe, and well organized. 5.00We booked a lesson through Ticos Surf school after chatting with a number of options. My 13 y/o son said they were the coolest! They were incredibly well run, and upfront with costs. Our instructor Javier was so knowledgeable but also so funny which made us at ease and eager to learn. My husband rented some beach loungers through them for the day as well, so he could watch. Very highly recommend these guys!

5.00My fiancé and I had an incredible time taking surf lessons with Ticos! From start to finish, the experience was fun, relaxed, and super encouraging. We had 1 instructor for the two of us and he gave great, easy-to-follow instruction. Thanks to his guidance we were quickly able to get up on the very beginner-friendly waves at Samara Beach. Everyone at Ticos was genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. A special bonus was the lockers right on the beach—such a convenient and thoughtful touch that made everything stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better first surf experience and would absolutely recommend Ticos to anyone looking to learn how to surf in Samara! 🌊🏄♀️🏄♂️
