During the months of July-November, the southern hemisphere population of humpback whales commences their winter migration with a portion of the population choosing the islands of French Polynesia as their destination. French Polynesia remains one of the few locations in the world where we are able to enter the water with humpback whales to observe them directly. Our priority lies both to guest safety and to respect of all wildlife we encounter during our tours. We will only enter the water with humpback whales after the biologist on board has observed their surface activity and deemed it safe and non-invasive for both the guests and the whales.
Allowing the whales to continue their natural behavior, mating rituals, and migrational movements is vital for a healthy marine environment.

Amazing trip! The guys Mata, Batiste and Rafael were very friendly and had a huge knowledge. We went to the water twice for the whales and had 2 successful seeings. After that they took us to a coral garden for a short snorkeling session that was just wow, and then we had snacks. Totally recommend going with this company

We’ve been on an 11 day cruise in the French Polynesia visiting many islands and doing so many incredible activities and excursions. This was by far the best activity we did during our trip. Robert, Mata, and Baptise could not have been more professional, accommodating, and friendly from the time we left until the time we returned. We did multiple drops and each time we saw three humpback whales and we were less than 10 feet from them. The boat, the food afterwards, and the fantastic experience could not have been better. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to swim with whales and have the experience of a lifetime!!

The waters were murky so the whales were hard to see but the expert knowledge and tracking skills of our guide Mata always had us right near the whale when it rose to the surface. Allowing us to see these majestic animals breach the surface for incredible pictures and videos. The beautiful singing and vibrations felt in the water were amazing. We had a wonderful time with Mata and our captain Ricardo.

We had an incredible swim with a mother and baby humpback whale guided by an excellent local guide Mata, who gave us lots of information about the whales and Moorea. Captain Roberto did an excellent job navigating and provided a delicious quiche cooked fresh by his wife. The company was very respectful of the local laws, not getting too close to the whales with the boat but a perfect distance for a very manageable swim to see the whales up close. We were fortunate to have our “Instagram moment” with mom and baby staring directly at us from about 15 feet away. Incredible trip, would recommend anyone to go with Moorea Moana.

Unfortuanately we didn't get to swim with the whales. Went in 3 times and although we swam over a whale - and heard him - he was too deep to see him. A big disappointment for me but not Moorea Moana Tours fault. I was very impressed with their professionalism and their obvious concern for the safety of the whales and their customers. The company obviously cares and does a good job trying to educate their customers. Mata, our guide and Roberto our captain were wonderful and I wish I could have gone out again. I would highly recommend them.

This tour was top notch professionals. From the beginning to the end, Louise and the captain (apologies for not remembering his name) took great care of us. Louise gave clear and on point instructions on her guiding us, on security process if encountering pelagic sharks and she was also very well guiding us in the water securing for us the perfect spot to have the best experience with the whales. They also sticked to the rules (opposite to the many other tours) and our captain even had an argument over the radio with others because they didn’t respect the rule of max. 3 boats around the whale. These guys do it the right way while bringing you an unforgettable moments with these gentle giants!
