Did you know that camels are great swimmers? They crossed to islands, and through rivers to reach better grazing or like to cool down in the ocean on hot days. Swimming with race camels on the beach is an extraordinary experience undertaken by very few. Watching them swim gives you an insight into their strength, stamina and manoeuvrability. You will have the opportunity to paddle and swim alongside the camels as they swim and float in front of you. When they have tired of their aerobic water antics, you’ll have the opportunity to wander in silence along the shallow shores of the beach whilst they dry. You can ride alone or with a guide if you’ve never ridden a camel. Not only will you be able to take some unique content for your social media channels, but you’ll be able to learn more about these fascinating animals that are only really known as desert dwellers.

I have been swimming with camel for over 2 years. Each time, on one level, it is a unique and special occasion and shows the bond and trust between camels themselves and us humans. On another level, it remains the craziest (and least touristy) things I have done in my 3 years in Dubai- who would have thought that camels can swim. In fact they are very good - think of a large bag of fermenting gas (their stomachs) to keep them afloat and add in 4 large paddles as propulsion units. Utterly 'bonkers'! I now have two camels (Seihan and Uli) of my own that live at the ADCRC and yes we have been swimming together - it is a great way to bond with, already, unique animals..

This experience is considered one of the most enjoyable for me and relieves the mind from the pressures of life and work. From the first experience, I always make sure to attend it if time allows me ( almost 5 times attending). And every time the coordination and preparation are at the highest level. Thank you.
