National Palace Museum
The first stop on your Taipei half-day tour is the world-famous National Palace Museum, which is also one of the world’s largest museums. With a collection of nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks, the museum showcases 8,000 years of Chinese art history spanning multiple dynasties. Two of the most famous artworks on display are “the Jadeite Cabbage” and “the Meat-Shaped Stone”, which are the must-sees in National Palace Museum.
Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall
The next stop is Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, an impressive monument in memory of the late president of the Republic of China, Chang Kai-shek. To reach the main hall, you need to climb up 89 steps, which represent Chang Kai-Shek’s age when he died. Here the changing of the guard ceremony takes place every hour on the hour from 09:00 in the main hall.

We have had an amazing day with Cher today. We asked her to show us the city and also we wanted to visit some stores which wasn’t a problem for her. She was very knowledgeable on the city and her English was very good. She was very organised and the day went very smoothly. Cher was also fun to be with as she was always laughing and gets on with everyone. I would fully recommend Cher as a tour guide. Our only regret was that we could do a second day with her visiting the country side.

We had a small group and James as our tour guide. He was really knowledgeable and we had some great conversations about life in Taiwan. The changing of the guards at the Chiang Kai-shek memorial and Martyrs memorial was a reflective experience for the recent history of Taiwan. The Palace Museum was great and very crowded, we saw the highlights and there was so much we didn’t have time to see everything.

Nice beginners tour of main Taipei sites. Chiara was wonderful and had a broad knowledge of the city, sites and history. Nothing was rushed and just the right amount of time at each stop. The small size group made the experience much nicer and friendly.

Very enjoyable trip, our guide is well informed and pleasant. He had a very sincere appreciation for Taiwan culture and art, made the tour even so much more enjoyable. The tour can only spend a limited amount of time at each location, but if you’re looking for something like that (we were) which gives you a four hour brief tour of these major locations, it was perfect.
