Longshan Temple
Longshan Temple is located in the heart of west end Taipei, and serves as the religious center of local community. The temple was first established in the 18th century by Chinese immigrants coming to Taipei, who later built Monga District as their settlement for trade and business. In the following years, Longshan Temple went through a series of earthquakes, typhoons, as well as wartime air raids, but has always remained resilient thanks to renovations, enthusiastic believers and the gods’ blessing. Today, Longshan Temple is one of the most iconic buildings of historic Taipei and a popular destination for sightseeing among foreign visitors and worshipers.
Bopiliao Historic Block
Bopiliao, literally meaning “skin-peeling” was once the commercial center of northern Taipei where Chinese immigrants conducted trade with the indegineous community. During its most glorious years, you would find its street filled with hostels, shops and public bath houses to accomodate the traders and local residents. Here you will also find the best-preserved architecture from Qing dynasty China in Taipei, some of its features have even been incorporated into modern Taiwanese style!

Luke & Andy were the best guides I could ask for. I really enjoyed learning about Taiwan's history with them. Their jokes made the 3-hour walking tour less tiring, and the ice cream pitstop was the best!

We covered three different themes during the walk: temples, commercial business, government buildings. Each done at a good pace where we could take in all the interesting information and stories provided by the very well informed guide.

Jessica and Will did an outstanding job covering Taiwan history, culture, and architecture. I wanted to understand Taiwan from a local perspective and this tour provided me with a lot of context. Will stayed for an additional 4 hours to give a tour of the Chaing Kai Shek Museum and we also explored another area which was influenced by the Japanese. I find that a lot of locals have so much pride and it shows as folks are willing to take the time to cover such a rich history.

5 stars! Tour group was rather large for a Saturday morning and we were split into two groups each with its own guide.

Found Like It Formosa before my trip to Taiwan and did the Historic Walking Tour in Taipei. Both of my guides were fantastic and the tour itself was very informative, so I ended up booking three more tours through them during the rest of my time in Taiwan. I ended up doing both of the tours in Tainan and the tour in Taichung. Highly recommend this company to anyone traveling to Taiwan as it's a great way to get your feet wet in each destination. My guides Alvin, Yuan, Kevin, and Rowena (who was my guide for both one of the Tainan tours and my Taichung tour) were all very knowledgeable about each city, were very fun, and had some great restaurant recommendations as well. Would have even booked more tours if my schedule allowed it.

I joined the Taipei Historic Walking Tour and was guided by Mabel and Alice. They were fantastic - their passion for their country and its history really shone through and made the tour that much more enjoyable. They were very open to chat, happy to answer questions, and offered unique perspectives! I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who's keen to learn more about Taiwan's history and people that have led to the political struggles we see today. It rained rather heavily on the day of our tour, but the tour proceeds rain or shine, which speaks even more to the tour guides' passion. Do check weather conditions beforehand and prepare the necessary.

Ok Tour, but Tour size too big. We had almost 50 people. A lot of walking , but didn’t see many interesting sites . I didn’t appreciate we were asked for quite a large sum at the end of the tour to “tip”. The sum they asked for was much higher than the 5USD we had already paid ( they recommended 400-1000 NTD extra per person ) which left us with a very bitter taste . Also, our guides got too much into politics ( trying to promote their political view).

Wonderful tour with two very knowledgeable women who spoke English very well and made the tour very interesting. Well timed breaks albeit very short (7-10 mins) and be prepared to walk about 1.5 to 2 miles (3-4 km). Can’t beat the price - they work for tips and suggested tip is $400-600 per person in your tour. I believe they earned it!
