Feeling like you want to do something "off the beaten path” near el tunco area? Explore the amazing Tamanique Waterfalls just 30 minutes away from El Tunco beach. With an altitude of 700 ish meters above the sea level, Tamanique town offers incredible views, colorful walls, and crazy waterfalls.

What To Expect
Tunco Life tour agency
Most of the time we start our tours in our office located in El Tunco beach, however, if you are not in the area, free pick up is available in La Libertad area or in San Salvador city.
Tamanique Waterfalls
We drive for about 25 minutes to get to the beautiful town of Tamanique, from here we start the hike downhills. 20 minutes later we find the very first waterfalls and start jumping/swimming.

5.00Our guides were both good! I appreciate that they hire a local guide from the town to help support Tamanique's economy. My pace was slower than the rest of the group and they offered their support, which I'm very thankful for. I would recommend this tour! Hike is intermediate. The water is so refreshing it makes it worth it!

5.00More than just a waterfall tour. The waterfalls are stunning and the swimming is so refreshing—my skin felt incredible afterward. The hike is a great workout, but the guides make it easy and safe, especially when it came to jumping off the rocks! What set this apart was the storytelling. The guides shared deep insights into El Salvador’s history (the good, the bad, and the ugly) while we rested. It was like a hike and a history podcast rolled into one. Make sure to bring some cash to stop at a little shack along the way for a beer!

5.00I had an amazing time on the waterfall excursion. Chamba was an awesome tour guide. He was super friendly and fun, and you could tell he genuinely enjoyed sharing the country he loves with the group. The hike was tough at times, but the views and waterfalls were totally worth it. Getting to cliff jump in such beautiful scenery was an all-time experience. I would definitely go again and check out other tours Tunco Life offers!

5.00An incredible tour of the waterfalls! Not only were the pools and waterfalls beautiful and refreshing but the guide shared a captivating history of El Salvador and its people. It truly made for an amazing experience. Big tip definitely bring walking shoes and plenty of water it’s a heck of a hike down and a hell of a hike up.

5.00Wow what an experience this tour was! We had an absolute blast hiking to the waterfalls, cliff jumping, and getting to know everyone in our group including our guides Pablo & Freddy. This tour was honestly the highlight of our trip!
