Paragliding is a unique way to see the landscape. It's a low impact, silent and lightweight form of flight. The ability to take off and land so slowly, makes it possible for us to fly from a wide variety of locations, and share the sky with local birds of prey. The gentle exposure to the air you feel when flying is exhilarating, without being extreme, and makes for an incredibly memorable experience.

What To Expect

During the session, we'll start with an introduction to the sport and our team. We'll then usually take a short walk to the take off area, and then fly on the tandem paraglider, with one of our former military paragliding instructors for up to 40 minutes. The flight will usually involve soaring on a mountain ridge like Hay Bluff, Blorenge, Hatterall Ridge or Nantymoel and between the spring and autumn, can also involve thermal flying up to the cloudbase. This could be as high as 5000ft, and we're often joined by Red Kites and other birds of prey whilst soaring. After landing, you are welcome to stay and watch other flights, enjoy the views from the hill, or to leave and continue your day.

Did a tandem paraglide from The Blorenge at Abergavenny with Andy as my pilot. Amazing attention to detail and safety instruction prior to flight. Highly experienced and totally in safe hands! What an amazing flight Andy treated me to. I’m 68 and it was a breeze to partake - so why are you waiting. I TOTALLY recommend it. Keith

My son absolutely loved his tandem paraglide today :-) The Team were so friendly, Charlie was brilliant and everything from booking to arranging the flight was made so simple. My son can’t wait to do it again and it was amazing to watch.. Would highly recommend

After flying paragliders for about five years, I decided to transition to speed flying. The school at Crickhowell was recommended to me so I signed up. There is always a little apprehension about new instructors: how hands on will they be? will the pace be too fast (or slow), are they just going to try and sell me gear I don't really need, etc. Upon meeting Alistair and Andy, the speed flying instructor, I knew this was a well-run operation and all of those worries disappeared. Alistair has a calming confidence. He delivers his training with a gentle firmness that encourages progression without you feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Everyone on his team lives for flying. They don't do this because they have to, they do this because want to. I think that this motivation and drive filters down to the rest of us. Learning to fly or taking a tandem flight with Crickhowell Paragliding will see you spending time amongst dedicated instructors, with great banter, in some of the most spectacular flying scenery in the UK. As further testament to how much I'd recommend them, whenever I get the chance I travel the four-hours from Leeds just to go flying with Ali and the Crickhowell team. I would certainly recommend them to anyone thinking of paraglider instruction, speed flying, or tandem flights in the UK.

I signed up for a speed-wing conversion with the Crickhowell team. Their knowledge was invaluable both on the hill and when it came to choosing equipment. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any paragliding instruction or tandem experience.
