It is a unique opportunity to be able to spend time inside a traditional machiya or Japanese townhouse. Kyoto was once filled with these simple wooden houses. Ours is about 80 years old and we think you'll agree it is still beautiful. Please come and immerse yourself in a quaint, yet elegant space.

Authentic and engaging experience, with the family. We observed the accurate gestures and listened to the meaning, then we also tried to prepare the tea and enjoy it with a delicious dessert. We strongly suggest it!

5 out of 5 for the Tea Ceremony. The hosts were lovely and explained the whole tea ceremony and making of Matcha to our group. We were a group of 8 and that was perfect for the size of room and getting individual attention when making the tea. We learned a lot but also learned we have a lot more questions regarding this ceremony the Japanese culture. It was a wonderful hour away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto and I would highly recommend it.
