North of Israel is possibly the most beautiful part of the country. It is a country of waterfalls, rivers and forests.
But it is also a country of Natural and Historical Reserves.
During this tour, you will visit three National Reserves in this area – Caesarea Philippi, one of the most important places for the Christianity, and former capital built by Philip, son of the King Herod; Dan National Reserve, with its brooks and forests, but also with the remnants of the best preserved Jewish Temple which used to compete with that in Jerusalem; and Nimrod Fortress National Reserve, with its huge and perfectly preserved Citadel overlooking the Golan Heights.

This is a beautiful park, not only for its natural beauty, but for its spiritual and historical significance. Upon on the hill are the ruins of the Temple of Pan, the ancient Greek god. The temple was built in front of a huge cave, through which an underground river runs. It was thought that the river led to Hades, the underworld, and many people were sacrificed into the river to satisfy the gods. Jesus took his disciples to this cave, a dark place where so many people had died, and spread his light of love - not human sacrifice. Jesus announced to Simon that he would henceforth be called Peter (or in Greek Petra), and upon Peter he would build his church and "the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18. How amazing that Jesus stood in front of the gate of hell, and announced the good news of a heavenly kingdom full of goodness and light. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Israel.

Beautiful nature walks, but significantly the Temple of Pan and other pagan gods. Quite likely to be near the area where Matthew chapter 16 takes place.

I was lucky enough to have two tours with Levi. I did the Caesarea tour as well one of Tel Aviv/Jaffa. Levi is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and gracious. He also has a very comfortable car. I highly recommend him.
