Where do I begin…this experience is such a rich and complete immersion in the world and knowledge of Tequila. I have experience going to wineries in multiple places, both in the US and in Mexico (my uncle is a sommelier), and this is probably one of the most amazing ones! Ximena is not only fun and knowledgeable, but I, because of a bad experience with my credit card, got to see her humanity and integrity during our experience. This says a lot to me. It shows that she not only loves what she does, but she loves the people she serves. The class went well into detail of how tequila is made and we got to taste and be explained about the flavor profiles of multiple different tequilas. I came out of this experience so incredibly content and I would come and bring my friends on many other occasions. Ximena, you know our experience and I am so appreciative of your understanding and your level of patience with us. Thank you so so much!

This is a wonderful class - much more than a typical tasting. My friend and I learned how to determine the quality of pretty much any alcoholic beverage. So educational and fun. And the tequilas were excellent. This was a rare and valuable experience!

Last night we did a tequila tasting with Jimena, and it was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Jimena is warm, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable—she’s a true sommelier. We had an amazing time and learned so much. We live in San Miguel de Allende now but used to live in California near wine country, and I spent years in the restaurant business. I’ve done countless tastings with other sommeliers, “experts” at distilleries, brand ambassadors, and more—but not once has anyone ever explained how to properly sniff a spirit or wine and, more importantly, what it actually means. I always thought I was missing something. After this tasting, I feel completely empowered and excited to start recognizing notes I’ve been overlooking for years. I can’t wait to return for her wine and mezcal tastings, and I will absolutely be booking this experience for every out-of-town visitor we have.

Fun afternoon with learning. Alex is knowledgeable, funny, etc. A great way to start learning about what makes a good Tequila.

This was a great introduction to tequila - I felt like I learnt a lot in between sampling some excellent drinks and learning how to gauge quality. Alex was an excellent host - a real ‘no-BS’ sommelier who really knows his stuff (an accredited sommelier in 4 different countries) and is happy to share his knowledge. Highly recommend - but be warned that you’re unlikely to leave sober!

Alex is an outstanding teacher. He skillfully deconstructed our knowledge to reconstruct it. He broke down the mystery (and hype) of sommeliers. His mastery is rooted in both science and art without pretense. His enthusiasm is infectious. Highly recommend. Do yourself a favor and do this early in your trip.

Alex delivered a masterclass on not only tequila tasting but also on how we use our senses. His speech was TED Talk quality and it kept us riveted for nearly 3 hours. And, once we began tasting the tequila, we had a newfound appreciation for the process as well as the subtleties on why we associate different flavors and smells with what we enjoy. I cannot emphasize enough how valuable of an experience this was. I've paid thousands to be in seminars that didn't come close to Alex's presentation. And, prior to this tasting, I didn't even know if I liked tequila or not. It's worth every peso.

We joined Alex Galina for tequila tasting during a recent visit to San Miguel de Allende and it was wonderful! We learned so much about the tequila-making process and the differences between tequila and mezcal. Alex has a way of educating that builds on what you already might have learned at wine or whiskey tastings and broadening upon your existing knowledge. It's great that he isn't trying to sell you on any particular product but instead wants to educate you and empower you to develop your palate and make your own choices about what you enjoy. There were only four at our tasting and it worked so well...so much fun and super informative. If you have an hour or two, spend it with Alex. It's well worth the time and was a highlight of our visit to San Miguel. Next time we'll go back for the wine tasting. Five stars! Thank you, Alex.

Don’t hesitate to book this class and tasting. It was one of the highlights of our stay. Run by certified professionals, you get an amazing education about tequila classification and production process. The tasting is beautifully presented with quality stem ware and nibbles and the tequilas themselves were outstanding, not brand specific, and examples of each of the five types of tequila were discussed and tasted. Our hostess was warm and knowledgeable, and her class structure allowed and encouraged participation and questions which made it even more enjoyable.
