Originally constructed in the mid-15th century by the Campbell clan, it served as a powerful stronghold and later as a garrison fortress during the Jacobite uprisings. Despite its partial collapse and weathered appearance, the castle retains an air of grandeur with its imposing tower, curtain walls, and strategic location against the backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. Kilchurn Castle stands as a hauntingly beautiful reminder of Scotland's turbulent history and is a popular destination for visitors seeking to explore its ancient halls and stunning surroundings.

Doune Castle is a well-preserved medieval stronghold located near the village of Doune in the Stirling district of central Scotland. Constructed in the late 14th century, the castle is renowned for its formidable defensive walls, imposing gatehouse, and sturdy keep. It has played a significant role in Scottish history, serving as a royal residence and military stronghold. Doune Castle gained further fame as a filming location for various movies and television series, including "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and "Outlander." Today, visitors can explore its atmospheric interior, climb the battlements for panoramic views, and immerse themselves in its rich history and cinematic connections.

Came to Scotland with my husband, we did a few days in Edinburgh and St Andrews on our own and then met up with Dave to travel to Inverness, Isle of Skye, and back to Edinburgh. We had an absolutely amazing time! There were a few things we wanted to do going in (see the Hogwarts train cross the bridge, Culloden, standing stones, fairy pools, and Old Man of Storr) and we were able to fit them all in and more! Our long car days were broken up nicely with stops (both bathroom and excursions such as Doune Caste, Eilean Donan Castle, feeding Hamish and Honey the hairy coos, and Loch Ness). If you want a driver that’s not going to talk to you and is simply taking you from place to place this is not the tour for you. Dave kept us entertained the whole time with stories about our various destinations, sights along the way, and Scottish history. He had great food recommendations at all our stops and probably knows most, if not all, of the bathrooms around Scotland, the majority of which were free. We felt safe the entire time, even on the narrow, rainy roads of Scotland. The van was very clean and roomy, we only had two people but it would easily and comfortably accommodate more, even with golf clubs! Highly recommended doing a tour with Dave and really leaning into his recommendations when it comes to creating route/guide/destinations/etc. 10/10 recommend and would definitely do another tour with Dave if we ever make it back to Scotland!

When our travel agent originally suggested a private tour, I didn't think it would be financially possible. However, when you have several people going, it quickly becomes the best option. The ability to customize the entire trip was so beneficial. Instead of changing hotels every night, Dave suggested ways to stay at hotels multiple nights. When one family member with limited mobility had trouble getting in the van, he bought a step stool and proceeded to get it in and out for every stop. We were able to visit the Clan museum and castle- something that would be impossible on a group tour. We looked forward to the daily historical stories as told by Dave. We enjoyed talking about current Scottish government and issues. Every morning he reviewed the schedule and we tweaked if needed. Taking my 80 year-old parents on their dream trip to Scotland was not only possible but memorable because of "Driver Dave".

Dave was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about local history and has some great stories. You let him know what you want to see and he can make it happen. Dave takes good care of his clients. We had four people on our tour and his van was very comfortable. The hotels he chose were excellent. It really gave you a nice Scottish experience. History, beautiful scenery, and exceptional attention to detail. An awesome tour.

This is the only way to see the sights and travel the Highlands in Scotland. We loved our tour and tour guide. We were picked up promptly in Edinburgh and had the greatest adventure. We were delighted with his local knowledge which allowed us to properly allocate our time to see all the top sights. Chris was so comfortable to be with and his vehicle was comfy and luxurious and his Spotify playlist was excellent. Our top stop was Deanston Distillery - a highlight as we are fans of the film, Angel's Share. We also were excited to visit Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and the hairy coos. We covered so many sights and stayed in beautiful locations. Oban was extra special. I highly recommend this tour and actually can't wait to book another one because there is so much more to see in Scotland and these are the only folks I trust to take me around. Guaranteed A++ experience.

Dave was fantastic at arranging our 5 day Trip around Scotland. He worked with his colleague to plan and help prioritize what we wanted to see to ensure we had the best experience and the best itinerary. Doug was our guide and he was phenomenal. Loved his humor, stories, music, history lessons and pop quizzes. Really made the trip for my son and I absolutely perfect. Just wish we would have had more time as it is an amazing country with so much to do, see and experience. Don’t rent a car, don’t try to do it on your own. This is the only way to go!! No stress. Just sit back and enjoy the adventure.
