With a local born and raised in Bilbao come discover a beautiful city and the amazing Basque cuisine on our 3-hour ‘pintxos’ (Basque tapas) tour of Bilbao. Experience the 700 year old streets of the Old Town with a professional local 100% Basque guide who is an expert in the Bilbao culinary scene. We are the original "Bilbao Food Tour" having pioneered the idea in the city starting in 2014.
We will visit 5 bars and sample pintxo styles ranging from traditional to modern. Your guide will pair each tasting with an excellent wine that compliments the pintxo. Wines that we recommend include red wine from La Rioja, Txakoli (a lightly sparkling white wine from the Basque Coast), and more!

What To Expect
Casco Viejo
-We will do as the Basques do! A bar hopping tour of Bilbao. We (the Basque people!) demonstrate our love of gastronomy with these tasty little bar snacks. -We will try the special pintxos, the ones you don't see on the bars! I will order them for you and the chef will make them instantly for you. -We are going to sample the traditional pintxos and also others that have been given AWARDS in the famous pintxo competitions. You will experience all Bilbao has to offer on this tour with stops at very modern bars, and also stops at some of the oldest bars in the city! -I will teach you how to order pintxos. After my tour you will have the confidence to go in any bar in the city! -I pair the pintxos with a wine most suitable to type of food we are experiencing. We will sample red and white wine, cider, and other drinks on this tour. -I know the best bars in my city and what to order as I was born and raised in Bilbao!

5.00Fabulous! Olaia was so enthusiastic about teaching us about her culture, foods and wines. We learned so much in a great atmosphere of five different restaurants. Food and drink all 5 Stars!!! Have to diet for several days now. Cannot say enough about this tour. Plus met some wonderful travelers to share experiences with during the two hours. The evening flew by.

5.00Amazing food tour with Olaia. So much good food and history about Basque culture. We tried different drinks and had 10 pintxos. Great way to walk around old town and this tour gave us ideas for meals on our own the next few nights. Highly recommend!!

5.00Olaia was amazing. THIS TOUR IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I mean truly amazing. She is born and raised in this area. She was knowledgeable and flexible. We ate until we burst with the most delicious food. She had a great deal of wine knowledge and even helped recommend places for the rest of our trip. So not hesitate to pick this one over any other tour.

5.00Bilbao, Spain is majestic. Our tour guide, Mikel Gomez Urkijo, www.toursbybasques.com, was amazing. Our ages ranged from 6 years old to 77 years. Mikel was spot on. The Guggenheim was beyond words, we arrived as they opened, had rooms to ourselves, and he knew how to have a fun-filled tour for kids and adults. The outside and the inside of the Guggenheim are spectacular. Mikel explained the history of how the museum, in remote Basque Country, became a wonderful of the world. It was fun, lively and the top of our time in Spain. He was prompt, knowledgeable and lots of fun. Mikel is a star guide!
