With a local born and raised in Bilbao come discover a beautiful city and the amazing Basque cuisine on our 3-hour ‘pintxos’ (Basque tapas) tour of Bilbao. Experience the 700 year old streets of the Old Town with a professional local 100% Basque guide who is an expert in the Bilbao culinary scene. We will visit 5 bars and sample pintxo styles ranging from traditional to modern. Your guide will pair each tasting with an excellent wine that compliments the pintxo. Wines that we recommend include red wine from La Rioja, Txakoli (a lightly sparkling white wine from the Basque Coast), and more!

-We will do as the Basques do! A bar hopping tour of Bilbao. We (the Basque people!) demonstrate our love of gastronomy with these tasty little bar snacks. -We will try the special pintxos, the ones you don't see on the bars! I will order them for you and the chef will make them instantly for you. -We are going to sample the traditional pintxos and also others that have been given AWARDS in the famous pintxo competitions. You will experience all Bilbao has to offer on this tour with stops at very modern bars, and also stops at some of the oldest bars in the city! -I will teach you how to order pintxos. After my tour you will have the confidence to go in any bar in the city! -I pair the pintxos with a wine most suitable to type of food we are experiencing. We will sample red and white wine, cider, and other drinks on this tour. -I know the best bars in my city and what to order as I was born and raised in Bilbao!

5.00We had customers from Texas visiting our factory and the food and wine tour in the old town was the perfect plan to relax and wrap the day up. Irene took us to 5 local bars where she ordered selected pintxos and wines, that we tasted while she shared interesting and fun facts about Bilbao and the Basque Country. Not only our guests enjoyed the experience, but so did I as well as a local. I would strongly recommend to book a tour with Irene.

5.00I travel on business and we often do food tours in various cities. Everyone agreed that this was the very best tour we have ever done with the absolute best tour guide. If we are ever back in Bilbao, we would certainly take this tour a second time. Food was delicious, wine was even better!

5.00This was the best thing I did in Bilbao. We went to 5 places where we had a drink and 2 different pintxos. We got a well rounded sampling of both. We had th txakoli at the first stop, apple cider at the second and 3 other wines at the other stops - rose, white and red (at the fifth stop we had a choice between red or white. The tapas were varied. We had two at each stop. The covered the range from the classic Gilda (olive, anchovy and pepper) to Basque cheesecake for dessert. I can't say enough good things about the guide Olaia. She was very personable and did a great job getting everyone involved. A highlight was her teaching us how to pour cider like a Basque. She gave me the cork as a souvenir. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Bilbao.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the old town of Bilbao, witnessing the vibrant food scene here. Superb local guide who was as enthusiastic about the Basque way of life as we have grown to expect. An amazing range of wine and pintos in five separate venues, all offering their own personal spin on this fabulous food culture. A great place to start if you’re unsure about where to go and what to look for!

Our fantastic guide Leire crafted an educational, gastronomical and humorous tour of the pintoxs scene in Bilbao. The food and wine pairing experience (along with a cider pairing) was outstanding. 5.00We booked this tour before finalizing our trip, and after two days of eating pintxos in San Sebastian, our expectations were admittedly low. We worried it wouldn't offer anything new. We are so incredibly glad we didn't cancel! It was easily one of the best tours we've ever done. Irena is exceptionally knowledgeable and full of positive energy—her personality truly made the entire experience. Within minutes, she turned three separate couples into what felt like a group of close friends on a bar crawl (the generous alcohol definitely helped!). The pintxos were sophisticated and utterly delicious, and we laughed so much throughout the evening. I'm intentionally skipping the food details because the surprise is part of the fun. Irena also gave us fantastic tips for the rest of our stay. If you have a free evening in Bilbao, do not miss this tour with her!
