Isabella was a font of all knowledge and it was a pleasure to spend this morning on ine of her tours post Rome marathon. Lots of beautifull buildings with all the back history and some secret sights too! All finished off by visiting a top coffee OG (1938!) shop to finish! Thoughrly reccomend 6/5!

What a great way to see the sights in Rome, some well known and some more hidden away. Also Isa knew some great viewpoints I'd never have found on my own, and gave some good tips for things to go and see while we were in town. Isa was very knowledgeable and engaging. It's such a good idea as well to see all this early in the morning before the crowds arrive. I would strongly recommend this for anyone staying in Rome even for a couple of days.

We had an amazing time with Isabella doing the hidden sites tour. We have been to Rome many times but this was a lovely new way to see the city. Isabella was fun and very informative and the running was pretty easy. Would definitely recommend to first visitors and also to those who like us have been many times before.

This was my first running tour and it will not be my last! Isabella put my mind at ease and was in contact from the start of the booking , answered emails and messaged when I had questions. I had the great pleasure of running with Sergio who had a wealth of local knowledge and was a wonderful running partner! I had such an amazing morning whilst most of the city was still asleep. Running around the sights and learning so much history whilst seeing parts of Rome I may have missed was an incredible experience. Fully recommend booking and thank you for such an incredible morning .

I'm back at home and missing so much this trip to Europe, where one of my biggest highlights was my running tour with Isa in the beautiful Rome. I'm training for a marathon and my partner hates running haha but was willing to run with me because of love hahaha and mostly haha because of the credentials that Isa brings on the table with an impressive knowledge about history. We both were extremely surprised to see how much your dopamine can increase even when you're not used to be up early haha .. and you are just full of happiness. Isa was so full of joy and history.. perfect combo. Definitely the earlier part helps a lot by not having so many people in line etc. Isa took the time to curate this experience for us since my husband wanted to experience the Roman Empire. She answered all of our questions and took time to take pauses to take photos, explained us all the curious details of history, and kept a perfect organization of time. Also .. impressed about her ability of running and speaking ahha (I havent mastered fully that one myself haha) Thankful forever with you my dear Isa! Keep your business shining ... the world needs more beautiful people like you :)

I spent five unforgettable mornings running through Rome with Isabella Calidonna of ArcheoRunning, beginning the day after Christmas and meeting each morning at 7 AM near my hotel by the Spanish Steps. What she offers is far more than a running tour. It is a masterclass in archaeology, storytelling, and Roman life — all delivered with warmth, intelligence, and the kind of insider access that only comes from someone who has called Rome home for more than 14 years. Each morning, as the city slowly awakened, we found ourselves running alongside locals heading to work or opening their shops — a quiet, authentic Rome that most visitors never see. The Spanish Steps, normally overflowing with tourists, were completely empty at dawn. The air was crisp, the streets peaceful, and the Eternal City felt like it belonged just to us. Over the course of five days, we explored the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese and its gardens, Rome’s great obelisks, and countless squares and hidden corners. We discovered broad Renaissance avenues and some of the narrowest alleys in Europe, the kinds of places where Google Maps becomes useless because the tall buildings block the signal — but Isabella knows every shortcut by heart. One of the most memorable parts of the experience was how Isabella always made space for iconic sunrise photography. She knew exactly where to pause so I could capture the first light hitting Rome’s churches, monuments, fountains, and hills. Watching the sun rise over the domes and rooftops of Rome while standing in an empty piazza is something I will never forget. What makes Isabella exceptional is the combination of her PhD in archaeology (specializing in women of the ancient world), her experience as a marathon runner, and her deep, affectionate knowledge of Rome’s layered history. She shares insights you will not find in guidebooks — small details, forgotten stories, and personal observations that bring the city to life. Our conversations flowed easily between professional topics and personal reflections, which made each morning feel like running with a friend who just happens to be a world‑class expert. Safety was always top of mind. We took it easy on the cobblestones, adjusted pace as needed, and enjoyed the rhythm of walk, run, talk, run. We even stopped for coffee — a perfect Roman ritual that made each outing feel both energizing and intimate. Another highlight was Isabella’s rapport with local security. Thanks to her friendships and familiarity with the area, we enjoyed unfettered early‑morning access through the Presidential and Prime Ministerial squares, places normally packed with tourists but completely empty at sunrise. Running through these iconic spaces as the sun rose, with Rome slowly coming to life around us, was nothing short of magical. Each run lasted about 60–90 minutes, and I can honestly say I saw more of Rome in those mornings than most visitors see in an entire trip. Isabella’s knowledge of the city’s side streets, alleys, and hidden passages transforms the experience — she knows how to navigate Rome in ways only a true local can. This was not just exercise. It was a Roman Holiday in motion, a cultural immersion, and one of the most meaningful experiences of my travels. I look forward to returning to Rome and running with Isabella again. ArcheoRunning is a gift — and Isabella is the reason why. Highly recommended for runners, photographers, history lovers, and anyone who wants to experience Rome in the most authentic and unforgettable way.
