Oban is the frontier between the West Highlands and the Islands. Its mild, temperate climate, warmed by the Gulf Stream, sets it apart in a region known for its rugged natural beauty. The proximity to the coast lends Oban some of that salted character for which the Islands are renown, though this is as gentle as the soft rains which give the fishing town its lush surrounds.
Embarking on the classic tour of Oban Distillery, this experience will offer you the chance to savour three delicious drams of Oban, whilst your host shares insights into our history and unique whisky making process.
From our traditional mash tun through our captivating Still House, to the old filling store, you will learn about how we create the distinctive character and flavours of Oban whisky.

It was silent season so we didn’t see work in progress but our guide Bex did a good job describing the process. Really good tasting experience to finish it off.

Andy was a fantastic guide. Super knowledgeable and the the three drams spaced out across the tour were a unique touch! Even though the distillery was in a silent period we still felt that we had a great experience wandering around.

Brilliant experience. Our tour guide, Jack, was very informative and friendly and he made sure my mobility needs (crutches) were accommodated for as there are some stairs to get around the distillery. It is a small distillery so I felt ok with doing the tour. I just made sure to take my time. It was very interesting learning about how whisky is made, especially as the only whisky I'd had before was the odd Jack Daniels with coke and I wanted to try more whisky. Jack was helpful in answering my questions on the process and I loved walking around the distillery and seeing where the whisky is made and stored. I also enjoyed trying the drams and I got myself some Oban to take back home to England. Since the tour on 19th I have also tried whisky from a couple other Scottish distillers. Thank you.

Had a brilliant time. Our guide, Jack, was very helpful in making sure my mobility needs were accommodated (crutches) as there are some stairs to get around the building. Jack also answered any questions I had about the process of making whisky. I found the process of making whisky very fascinating and (of course) had fun trying the 3 drams you get as part of the tour. I wasn't judged at all for never having had any whisky besides an odd Jack Daniels with coke. This tour convinced me to try more scottish whisky. I have since tried whisky from 2 other Scottish whisky distillers as well. There are a few interesting tidbits about Oban distillery and its location in particular which I found very interesting. Well worth the price. Thank you.
