Our experience with “Get Yor Guide”, Tours in Amsterdam was not good. I had booked a “Marken, Volendam and Edam” described as a “Private Tour” with mention of a local bus (assumed small van for small group). Also included was “pick up” from your hotel (sounds like “in a vehicle”). I knew there would be “some” walking, for example in their description of the tour– “short walking tour” and “Stroll through the picturesque streets of Marken)., not a lot as guide told us. Now here is what happened at the “pick up” just a guide on foot saying we need to walk to Central station to take “PUBLIC” transport. He also told us it was just us and that there was a good bit of walking and more public transport later. Clearly this was very different to the description provided earlier. How does a PRIVATE Tour have to take PUBLIC transport Now I’m 81 and have cancer plus mobility issues, so my wife said we can’t take this tour! Afterwards the concierge at the Kimpton de Witt Hotel called the company to try to get a full or partial refund for me. The “Get Your Guide” representative said she would check with management and I’d get a call that day or the next. No-one called. On returning to the States, I contacted “Get Your Guide” by email to explain why I could not get on the tour and pleading for a full or partial refund. Responses were dispassionate repeating their cancellation policy of up to 24 hours prior to tour departure. I stated that this did not apply under the circumstances as I would not have known the details until confronted with them at pick up. I also indicated that due to my condition could they not make compassionate exception – “NO, NO exceptions. “Get your Guide” needs to be much clearer in their tour descriptions and also indicate that they may be difficult for handicapped
