Beyond witnessing predesigned and artificial scenarios to be presented to the visitor, with this experience we want to sit down to observe and have a direct and real dialogue with one of the native cultures of the northern Colombia region: Aruhaco or Ikü. Although you will be able to learn and ask much of what you want to know, you must also be willing to share your knowledge as a reward, as a nature law.

Murunmuke is a Natural Reserve created by a family of the Ikü culture, native to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta with the purpose this territory be a space for dialogue with the sacred territory and the mountains. This is part of a great project initiated by all the Ikü people who believe that the time has come to share all their knowledge and reflections with the other peoples and thus curb all the bad practices that are deteriorating the planet. Ancestral agriculture, food, and weaving, cultural exchange, hiking along the reserve trails and wildlife encounters are some of the activities we are invited to do during our visit on Murunmuke.

Leo, the guide, has good connections with key people in the Sierra Nevada area granting access to great experiences of these uniquely biodiverse mountains. From genuine encounters with tribes to fun jungle adventures, a few days with Leo is bound to be an insightful experience through stunning locations. The highlights of our trip in April 2022 would be swimming across jungle rivers, sighting Howler Monkeys and cultural exchanges with the Murumbuke community.
