We visit the less touristy hoods around the Jean-Market on our food tour. From a single mom-no-pop shop we learn about our Latino community and sit down at a Salvadoran neighbourhood joint where locals go. We learn about the different communities that make up the area and pop into Little Italy for an iconic bakery when open.
The Jean-Talon market is the largest of its kind in the country. We try goat cheeses that are so farm to table they remind us of that scene from Portlandia. We visit a spice den, point out other great vendors, try some of the best charcuteries in the province as well as a few surprises like a forager and more depending on the season! You’ll want to go back to the market after the tour.
In Little Italy we explore the streets and area, sip third wave joe and learn about our progressive coffee scene. We head to a bean to bar award winning chocolate “factory” that will showcase some of the best stuff Montréal has to offer, period.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience on our food tour with Spade & Palacio! From start to finish, it exceeded every expectation our family of three had. Jesse was an incredible tour guide—knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely warm. He seamlessly wove history and culture into each stop, making the experience so much more meaningful than just a food tour. The group size was small, which made everything feel personal and relaxed—never rushed or touristy. Every single food stop was outstanding, but a few highlights truly stood out: Jean Talon Market is an absolute must-see, the pupusas were authentic and delicious, and the final stop at État de Choc was pure perfection. This tour struck the perfect balance of amazing food, local insight, and genuine connection. The 3-hour tour flew by in an instant. We ate so much food we did not need to eat again that day. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience!

Chris was such an informative and enthusiastic fan of Montreal and its culinary treasures! This was a very fun tour, trying some things I knew well (but tasted fabulous) and a few ethnic foods that were a surprise treat! Definitely book this tour if you’re looking to try some tasty bites and learn about the city and its people!

Chris was a wonderful guide. He knows about all kinds of cuisine. He is also passionate about hockey. If you are lucky you may see the boss and his dog on the way. Lots of good food. This was our second Spade & Palacio tour. The first was the Mural tour with Gabrielle. I recommend that one as well. I wish we could have done their Old Montreal but that one got away.

The tour was great, included many tasty foods, Chris was an excellent tour guide, very kind, he provided lots of history and information and he let us know what to expect at the beginning of the tour. If you are expecting to eat bagels, poutine or smoked meat sandwiches this is not your tour. Instead, expect to eat local delicacies (cheese, cured meats, ice cream, chocolate, amazing cannoli, fancy coffee, etc) found at the market and a sit down at a restaurant where you will try a delicious Salvadorian food and drink

Dave took us on a wonderful tour around the Little Italy neighborhood and market! We got to sample a variety of food and drinks and see some beautiful sites. Apparently Dave was pretty new to the role, but you would never know it! Would definitely recommend!
