Museum and Crypt of Capuchins Friars
Your first destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.
Catacombe Di Domitilla
Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.

We had a tour on Thursday with Alan. Alan was an exceptional tour guide and brought the history of these sights alive. We really enjoyed this experience and would highly recommend the tour.

A very interesting tour. Learned a lot about the history of the crypts and catacombs. Our guide, Alain, was very informative and had a great sense of humor.

This was a super trip combining several highlights, with lots of useful information and history from our excellent tour guides. Both the catacombs and the crypts with the bones of the Capuchian friars were definitely worth visiting. The time spent in total was very reasonable. I would have wished for more time seeing the Crypts and related museum, but this was the only small downside. Cat was out guide and she was engaging and well organized. The group size was very reasonable. We are glad we had this opportunity!

Interesting and unique tour. It’s the longest one we enjoyed with transport between sites.

Sorry but l didn't enjoy this tour. Maybe l picked the wrong activity but l thought it was boring and was glad when it ended. It wasn't helped by not being able to hear the guide properly (l wasn't the only one) or understand her accent as she spoke so quickly.

The Capuchin Crypts and catacombs were awesome. I strongly recommend visiting both. We think our guide was less than enthusiastic and seemed to be “faking” it. We could have skipped the church at the end.

The crypts were definitely unexpectedly real. Kind of creepy to be honest. Catacombs were super interesting. Cat was an amazing guide. Over all great tour.

Andrea and his team did a fantastic job providing context and unique history on the three sites included on this tour. The inclusion of the early Roman house that served as a secret church at the end of the tour was incredible and unforgettable.

A bit out of the ordinary but something you should definitely see if you have time. The catacombs are amazing.
