Museum and Crypt of Capuchins Friars
Your first destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.
Catacombe Di Domitilla
Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.

We enjoyed this tour and our tour guide Andrea was excellent. I have been on a Catacombs tour before with the underground church but this tour was something new to see.. Definitely worth it. When we entered the catacombs, we had a priest as our tour guide taking us down and explaining everything very well. Our tour guide Andrea was friendly and knowledgeable taking us through other parts of the tour.

Be prepared to be abandoned at the Crypt museum. If I could leave 0 stars I would. We met our guide Andrea at the meeting point and formed our group at 2pm. The experience started at 2.20pm. After some talking we then walked to the Crypt museum and more talking began, by the time we got to the door of the museum it was around 2.50pm. You would think a guide would show you around and explain history unfortunately Andrea did not do this, instead we were given audio devices to listen to while walking around the museum by a member of staff. We could of done this ourselves no guide needed. He then told us to meet back at the door at 3.20pm. Less than 1 hour to see, read and listen to the history of the Crypt. With the amount of traffic and lines inside to explore it all less than an hour and enjoy it is impossible. We then went back to the agreed meet point before 3.20pm and there was no sign of Andrea. There was not just my partner and I left, there was members of the same group also left. Are we supposed to run through the museum? Push and shove past people? Ridiculous. We then contacted support, they then called the tour guide Andrea. He claimed he looked near and far for us and we were the only 2 missing from the group. Lies. If he looked I assume he would of came inside the Crypt which he didn't because nor I or my partner seen him or other people left in the group seen him. If you do book this experience make sure you make contact and make sure you do not get Andrea as a guide. I was told there was nothing I could do about it only to buy a taxi and join them on the second leg, after paying 147 euros.

This was an excellent slightly gothic tour both tightly knit and intriguing . Geoffrey the guide for the crypts was sufficiently knowledgeable and Emiliano the overall tour guide was entertaining. It would have been great to spend more time at the crypt.

Very interesting and enjoyable tour. Our guide Alan was very knowledgeable and personable. We learned a lot. The bus ride was very comfortable and a relief from the walking we had been doing for days. A different side of Rome than most people see but is still very much a part of the history. The catacombs was the high point for us.
