Museum and Crypt of Capuchins Friars
Your first destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.
Catacombe Di Domitilla
Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.

Emiliano was a fantastic guide! His knowledge mixed with humor made the tour so fun. My husband and I were awestruck by the catacombs and capuchin crypts. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome!

Excellent tour with very engaging guide. Thank you Emilio. Definitely worth a visit if you have a week to see Rome. Was very impressed with the state of underground and it is feasible to do for active seniors too. Ventilation was very good and stairs and steps well supported and manageable.

We booked 4 adults for the Crypts and Catacombs through Viator with City Wonders taking us. We all had a great time. Our tour guide Andrea was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions asked. I would have liked a little more time at the Crypts but understand time is limited and weuse a bus to the catacombs. I would recommend this tour.

Had an amazing time, brought family of five and we all loved it. Maria was a fantastic guide, great energy and super knowledgeable, and Mary, the nun that guided us through the catacombs was awesome. Really unique experience that the kids are still talking about! Well done!

Grisly Tales for Gruesome Kids. ... And adults. And amateur historians. Get close up to history. No grassy bumps in the ground. Instead some real relatable history. Skelly-bones. Underground cemetery. A bus micro-tour on the Appian Way. And the old house below the Church of Silvestro & Martino brings it all together. Bits of stuff you heard at school made real. Amazing. (We also liked not being rushed-&-crushed like at the Colosseum.) We loved it and, amazingly, so did the kids! Kudos Alain

Andrea is a wealth of knowledge and kept everyone engaged. Great sense of humour. A lot included for the price and so much history. Was able to book just a few hours before and was sent detailed meeting details as well as end location. Thank you!
