Museum and Crypt of Capuchins Friars
Your first destination is the Capuchin Crypt. Capuchin monks used the bones of nearly 4,000 of their brothers to decorate this somber space in intricate floor-to-ceiling designs, lending it the macabre nickname of ‘the Bone Chapel’. Here you will be free to explore hearing all the interesting details and the reasons behind such an unusual practice with your audio guide. Open your eyes to the city’s hidden side – and you’ll never see Rome the same way again.
Catacombe Di Domitilla
Your expert historian guide will explain how this network of sacred tunnels is associated with the first Christians in ancient Rome. You’ll descend into the labyrinthian corridors carved into the soft volcanic rock and discover the frescoes, strange iconography and burial places which doubled as places of worship when the Christians were persecuted.

The guide was amazing and provided a tremendous amount of background information for each of the 3 places we visited. This information was then enhanced while we were viewing the crypto, catacombs and church. One of my favorite tours.

We had a great time touring ancient crypts,, catacombs & churches with Alain. He was knowledgeable, humorous, kind, and a great story teller. We moved across the city between locations on a clean, safe, comfortable bus, and enjoyed our group of approx 20. There are steps and gradual slopes to navigate, but not over-exerting. The tour is well paced with multiple short breaks.

Our tour of the catacombs was excellent. Fiona, our guide, was superb! She had a wealth of information to share about the catacombs, but also bout Rome in general. She was a vibrant and funny guide. She truly made our tour a wonderful experience! We could tell she was enthusiastic and loves sharing the history and culture with visitors. We were enthralled by the catacombs. Such a fascinating history of the area, the Appian Way, the catacombs, and of San Sebastián himself. The three pagan catacombs are well preserved. The tour was well paced, detailed, and enjoyable! Would definitely recommend! For preservation purposes, no photography is allowed in the catacombs.

Way too long of a tour. Just be aware it is out of town 25 min on a bus and then the return. You can see the crypts in Rome and not take all this time. I would not recommend.

What an amazing look a the past! Fascinating experience! 3 separate excursions each with their own part of the story. Our Guide Emiliano was FANTASTIC!!! Both knowledgeable and humorous! He added many special tidbits along the way as well as we made it way from one venue to the next! I highly recommend this if you’re up for a bit of the eerie! And it’s always important to mention the expert skills of the bus driver in the crazy Roman traffic!
